BORDERSCOT 3,816
And when your youngest dog is the fastest your are in trouble haha  Aye, but when your youngest dog gets older. . . . your in for some fun In all seriousness. . . . Andrew did VERY well, to put up and kill the number of foxes he did, on that land. It's hardly alive with them, and it's a bleak, hard land. There are a few lads on here that (when legal) hunted the hill like that, and it's a pretty specialized form of fox control, which takes a certain kind of dog. A lot of dogs could kill charlie, but very few of those same dogs could consistently find the fecker up there in the first place. There is a scene where the fox and dog run the walls. What a bit of footage! And what a place. Wales 1234 knows what I mean I think thats my favouroute bit mate and if you watch the old lurcher hits him to bowl him over and then strikes...............thats the best bit of footage that bit and yes your dam right about people knocking the fella as not many dogs would draw cover and hunt like a hound to get a kill at the end ,..........they good dogs for sure.......the lad is on this site . It's my favorite bit as well. They are very smart dogs mate, not to mention agile, quick and with a nose like a bloodhound. Colliex, with a bit of bull and some with hound in, I believe. And yer, he is on here My favourite bit of lurcher footage ever that one...you see that young dog tipping that ole Charlie over with its snout...ain't game over yet tho - it's one hell of a run eh???...lesson for those who reckon foxes are easy and not quick....far better footage than the whizz-bang-wallop of the Wrecking Crew...Andrew Edwards' dogs work their asses off over some of the roughest and unforgiving terrain in the country...my kinda thing that...proper dogs...I've got the 3 DVDs and never get tired of watching them hounds do their thing...put me in a mind to watch them tonight... 2 Quote Link to post

I'd strongly recommend theses DVDs to anyone who likes to see proper dogs graft hard... PM you in a bit... 2 Quote Link to post

weasle 1,119
Yes, his name is Andrew Edwards. They are probably my favorite lurcher films. Always make me laugh at folk who knock them, saying the dogs pick their strike etc etc etc. I'd love to see most dogs find a fox on them hills. . . . . you are hard pressed to see ANY living thing, other than sheep. Them dogs are good HUNTING dogs. Your dog needed to be 100% with sheep as well, those mountain sheep have a smell on them and jump up out of bits of cover,a "stock broken"" dog could easy make a mistake first time it saw them. From what i seen any way. 1 Quote Link to post
Wales1234 5,490
You've got to trust your lurchers 100% with sheep and there's nothing like being on top of the valley looking down and seeing your lurchers hunting through the sheep and bolting and the lurchers not evening turning their heads ! Yes, and I have witnessed it lots of times. Never a dog going all of the way (touch wood!) but seen plenty, including mine, start to give chase as they suddenly jump up out of the cover and bounce off, usually on their own. They look, smell and act like a wild animal. At the moment i'm teaching the hound not to run their lines. She won't chase the sheep itself, but she will work the scent, through the cover, as she has been working deer, and only been on the hill twice. They must smell similar to the deer?
