finder 6 Posted May 9, 2013 Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 my spaniel dog which is coming up to 3 years old has got serious happy tail and is for ever banging it in his kennel/run and while out hunting ,now the tip is getting seriously damaged .i,ve had him to the vets twice.he has had injections and cream etc to no avail.the dog is not docked and i know this is 90% of the problem.anybody got any home remedies etc.p.s the vet has said if it does get any worse he will take off a inch or 2.which realistically should have been done as a pup.thanks. 2Painless2btrue 11 Posted July 22, 2013 Report Share Posted July 22, 2013 It can sometimes help if you strap the tip of the tail with insulation tape for protection. Not too tight tho or you might cut off the blood supply. If you do get a bleed then firm pressure and potassium permanganate crystals as a styptic can help.
