Has anyone ever fitted a Titan Top Hat, Titan Power Boosters & Titan XS Mainspring?

Ive got my hands on an old Webley Excel and although after the 60 odd quid on the tuning kit, I could have probably bought a new gun, I would rather tune it myself if possible as a project, than buy new.

Has anyone done this before, if so is it fairly straight forward? I realise It would be better to pass it on to a local gunsmith, but as a person I like to get stuck in, and at the end, if all goes to plan, the first kill will be more satisfying than with a shiny new shooter.

Thanks

I used to really rate Titan round wire springs but sadly (like so many other things...) their quality's not what it once was. I had a few fail prematurely these past few years. Don't be tempted to fit an OX or similar, it'll over-spring your rifle and ruin it.

The last few springs that I've fitted have come under recomendation from Sandwell Fieldsports and so far they've all been spot on.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Cheers mate. Cracking forum. Mix bag of everything from what I can see.

I had a little look around on the forum, and you're not the first to steer me away from the OX kit available. Same thing keeps cropping up about over springing. I havent bought anything yet, Ive swayed more so far to the Titan, as I know it matches up with the Webley Excel.

In terms of the fitting, have you done it yourself or left it to a gunsmith?

Im gonna keep looking about and see if there are any other tuning kits that fit the gun.

I always do my own work, mate. I worked as a gunsmith many years back but these days I just enjoy tinkering with my own guns and I also look after a few friends rifles too.

If you're OK yourself with a bit of spannering then you shouldn't have a problem working on your Webley, they're pretty straight forward and so long as to stick to common sence engineering practice you'll not go far wrong.

Good to hear that mate. Im proficient enough with tools and take my time and luckily there's this fancy invention called the internet, crammed with youtube blue peter style videos and plenty of forum posts aswell. Im looke ing forward to doing it because when it's done I'll get proper satisfaction than just a normal gun kill.

Thanks for the wisdom pal!
