gurtwurz 792
I think you have some great tuned rifles already Simon. A with a 98 barrel and custom stock S1 tuned would be the tops I think mate. It is. Lol Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Yes thats true I would think Craig. The VHTV Spectre will be worth some money one day. After shooting it with Davy at his club to silly ranges I would say the Spectre now its bedded in and dropped in power will match my HW100KT if im on form. I think its doing either 10.7 or 10.3 FPE now. People wont probably believe that about its accuracy but I know what its achieved. 1 Quote Link to post

A Tony Wall tune...all wrapped up in a Custom Stock's CS500 sporter or Tyrrolean walnut stock....Jesus! It really sounds awesome doesn't it! Simon 1 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Yes thats it Simon. VHTV are already looking into it at the mo with SFS. Just waiting on prices etc. I think the weight of the combined with the barrel of the 98 and a SFS's own Webley Vulcan spring fitted and tuned would make one of the best springers anywhere. Ive got that spring now fitted into my 98 and its so smooth to cock and shoot mate now. The recoil is less than a S2 tuned 97 as well as Mauders will vouch for. 1 Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Yep, totally agree, that 98 si has is truly something special, there's nothing there when you fire it. Almost dead in its firing cycle. The hw80 with those mods would be a truly awesome combination that's for sure. Phil 1 Quote Link to post

With a CS stock that would be a winning combination and something that I'd seriously consiser if in the market. I know the aim would be to reduce as much recoil as possible but I bet it would be great in an FAC format too, with the 98 barrel and weight of the helping reduce any muzzel flip Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
the only problem i can see with a walnut stock would be to make the rifle a tad front heavy, maybe it would be worth looking into a hardwood instead. more to come on that as it goes, but not just yet.. as to reduced recoil and muzzle flip, i can tell you lads now that mine has next to sod all of either. this is definitely a great combination for all aspects of shooting and i'm quite surprised it hadnt been tried before to be honest. the only problem i can think of is that its quite loud, but apart from that its on a par with my pro sport for accuracy( in fact i think it shades past the pro sport), and over all i find the break barrel to be a much faster handling, fun gun to shoot. which is about as good as it gets really! 1 Quote Link to post
bunnyman 68
Great vids Si & Davy, i was going to buy the spectre until i was told the price !!!!!!! EKKKKKKKk £720-00, no chance i can get a v-mached gun from steve pope at v-mach much cheaper. atb brian I saw these rifles when they were fresh out of the box . Money well spent ? Well, its a big lump of cash , but you have to realise these rifles will perform as well as ANY pcp . They are well balanced , very well made , tuned to perfection , and one of a limited number that will be avaliable . You can pick up any half decent pcp fpr that money , and second hand , about a third less . What you fail to understand is that these select few are going to be , in 10 - 15 - 20 yrs time like rocking horse poo . These will be the ones that will fetch well in acess of their original price . A V mach , dont get me wrong , a quality buy , but the 1 in 30 spectre ( i think its 30 i maybe wrong ) that comes up once in a blue moon ?? Its worth every penny and much much more ............ Hi Buster , well good luck to those that want to spend that sort of money ,i will get my HW97kt v-mached very shortly that will suit me fine .i don,t hunt with springers only m/s pcp,s, my springers are for target/ fun shooting only. they are great looking guns the spectres, , i am sure any new owners will really treasure them. atb brian Quote Link to post

webster 90
Aww what a dilemma! Great shooting as ever from two great lads. The rifles are truly fabulous Si and Davy. But am I shooting with anything less? No. I really have beautiful spring rifles that Andy has serviced absolutely superbly. But the point is...Do I order one too when I have four really terrific, superbly accurate shooting spring rifles??? I'm really liking the idea/suggestion of taking an HW80K and putting it through a real customising facelift and Sandwell's tuning with a Custom Stock's CS500 sporter or Tyrrolean stock in a rich walnut.... That would be fabulous ...wouldn't it! whistler1 26
To well put together videos thair lads, enjoyed them both Was thinking about going back to a springer and selling my XTX regd Ultra, before i even came across these videos.Heard a lot about SFS Tuned guns, never seen or heard them in action, until i came across Si Pitman video of SFS tuned HW97Kt and after just seeing these 2 videos.Definetly will be giving serious consideration to going back to a springer.Of course it will be a SFS springer.Having previously owned a 97Kt about 4-5yrs ago.I can tell you it was not as quiet as the one Si was using. MickC 1,825
Paul Watts the American tuner has been fitting fitting shorter shrouded barrels to tuned Hw80/R1 and other models for years. http://www.springgunning.com/shrouds.JPG Edited June 1, 2013 by MickC Quote Link to post
MickC 1,825
Nearly forgot about this thread, the Air Arms Pro Elite was also a big heavy break barrel which also used the concept of having fitted a heavy shrouded barrel. Never seen one for a good few year though. Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
I am lead to believe that you can buy the HW98 barrel shroud separately. Turn this down to the length of the Spectre barrel and profile it to match the back of the HW silencer. Should sort out any muzzle flip/ hold sensitivity. And the shorter barrel should even out the lighter weight stock compared to the 98. Just a thought, so long as you know of a competent gunsmith! ;0) Quote Link to post
