Nothing clearly being Saluki's,lol, what else could a saluki possibly do other course hares on massive fields.

I don't actually remember ever saying my dogs are no good for big land though. :hmm:

I really don't see what this thread has to with my dogs anyway.

I'm fully aware it is not in Iran, I never said it was. Stop being so pedantic, I'm not the fool you seem to think I am.   I have friends in Karachi who hunt in Balochistan.   As for you comment

get some hunting videos up then to sell your "accident" pups that your not letting anybody have and give us all something worthwhile to watch

Are you the guy who imported some Tazis and had a bit of bother fetching them into the country at the time?

Just interested because it's a couple of years now since the Tazi was fetched in and was wondering how they'd gone on and how they compare to the Salukis we have in this country.

All the best

I have only imported one bitch Malc, I didn't have any bother getting her in though. There was another guy (I think David was his name) who imported two Tazi bitches from Russia but they both ended up in a RSPCA shelter of all places and were neutered and rehomed when he split with his wife. The breeder wasn't too impressed as she wanted them returned to her but the RSPCA would have none of it.

am i right in believing that the Tazis are slightly heavier than the salukis? I'm not saying salukis are thick, as I've seen ones that have proved me wrong, but are there brains wired the same? Before Paul Sagar died, bless him, I was quite impressed by one of his salukis, just how biddable it was. But, you're always fed lines about what they are like and you should make your own mind up.

As a general rule yes they are much more strongly built, Nura is 10 pounds heavier than my Saluki bitch Ameerah who is slightly taller than Nura.

Their mindset is similar in a general sense but still some differences all the same, my Salukis are very fiery, where as Nura is much more measured in her ways.

I reckon they would make good allrounder for lads running say moors hills mountians stoney area, they will be strong physicaly, maybe slower than usual saluki comparable to most lurchers, would lamp, likely to take a range of quarry in various terrains, hard going sort, mind its getting the right owners for them to get the fair chance they deserve, the lads said they will not suit coursing lines or give some one summat new to introduce, or make money from , I daresay to the right person he would drive from his place and hand it over along with a bag of food, he did not import it to improve coursing linesbut for his own use , they dont need it as you know, they will be a challenge and hey yeah they might turn out shit mind thats true weather they free or a grand each, got some bottle to stay on with eagle coming in lol no one can deny that,, a lots down to what you personaly make of them just cos they not best on fens dont mean they not a handy working dog does it

get one in and treat it like a lurcher pup, give it time too mature out mentaly and with a little luck you might have a jack of all trades master of none sort on your hands, like a lot say they wont make out and out coursers , but thatdon't make em gash plenty of dogs have no saluki and manage too please their owners enough to get fed and a home for life, to be fair theirs no neeed to keep a ferrari if you live in the mountains youd likely more want a landrover if ya get me drift,

to me they just a regional variation of a saluki much the same as saluki lurchers they simply just best of best local dogs bred over years to suit lads needs where they run, I knwo uk lines got all sorts in but they 30 40 year old the saluki tazi sloughi etc all started the same likely few arab nuttals and sankeys tens of thousands of years ago, all breeding best too best killers, all end up looking summat similar
