Guest CharlieC
I'll second that going to treat myself to a new one tomorrow. They are lightweight and hold a good blade
Guest Dave
A [bANNED TEXT] of mine brought me a gerber gator back from canada, Only cost £20 out there!. It is fantastic opens one handed with a flick of the wrist takes a razor sharp blade has a serated section for general cuting of string or rope and it can be chucked in the dish washer if it gets a bit mankey. http://www.scottcountry.co.uk/products_det...p?productID=530 Dave

Gin 498
I never had a Opinel break on me, and i use one all the time. Perhaps a one off fault in production. At the other end of prices, is the Cold Steel,- Master Hunter. Drop point Carbon V , High Carbon steel blade. Sheath Knife. Real bargain at £65 from Attleborough Accessories. Should last a life-time. Attleboro always have some good deals on, they had some rory o connors on offer this month, again top end stuff, but nice, i,ve a couple of opinels, cant beat em for day to day use, i,ve got a gerber gator too, its a b*****d to keep sharp, i like my opinels, and you dont weep when you lose one
Guest pan.handle
At the other end of prices, is the Cold Steel,- Master Hunter. Drop point Carbon V , High Carbon steel blade. Sheath Knife. I've a soft spot for cold steel knives myself Gin. Got the Master Hunter and the "Lloyd Pendleton" Mini Hunter. Carbon V steel is quite easy to sharpen [compared to the super steels] and it keeps a good edge. Also have a few opinel's, value for money they can't be beaten................. all the best pan
Gin 498
http://www.alanwoodknives.co.uk/ Yes baldie Alan is Brampton way. Makes the best knives. He was going to put on a display in our Countryside Marquee at this years Wolsingham and Stanhope shows but has done his back in, so can't make it. Great Pitty that. Yes Pan,- I also like Cold Steel type, but just use the Opinel now.

Guest Corkonian
Foxhunter: I got a Charge XTI earlier in the year - a few of the lads swear by the multitools - so I tried it out. Carry it always now - very handy. The different tools are a bit awkward to use due to the shape of the handles - the pliers wouldn't be strong enough for some things I've tried to do with it - the wire cutters is excellent though and will easily cut barbed wire (seperate out the strands) or sheep wire. No scissors in the xti which is a bit of a balls. Good review here: http://www.equipped.com/lm_charge-wave.htm Very hardy as well - blood and water have no affect on it. Guest reload
Allen wood, phroahh loverly blades and a nice fella too, he does have a waiting list, but worth it if you wanna get a top english handmade blade. Think he made the scout leader mears knife, not a hunting knife but a loverly practical knife. You just dont wanna loose it!!! Thats why i take a cheapy when crawling through hedges and lamping!
