Guest norseman
just noticed yesterday that my jill ferret was badly limping, she is holding her leg in tight, and its not touching the ground at all. I don't think its broke, but last night she shit in the upper part of the hutch, which never happens. so she obviously cant use the stairs, Ive put the food upstairs for her now to access. I don't know weather to call out the vet (for a call out charge of £60) or to wait it out till Tuesday when their open. and just keep an eye on her. what do yous think? atb Quote Link to post
The one 8,479
You had a look at it ?. it might be anything from a overgrown nail ,a split nail and its a bank holiday hopefully its something you could rectify yourself 1 Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
My hob had a slight limp for a day or two, but wasn't as serious as yours sounds, he still used the leg a bit. If you wind her up and get her excited will she bounce around on it all? Like the one said would be a good idea to check nails, long nails will hurt the feet. Could also maybe be a thorn or something? Give the leg a close look over, in-between all the toes and foot pads. Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
checked her foot over, nails and pads all look fine. she seems ok form but just a really limp leg. just have her resting up with plenty of food. think i'll wait it out till tuesday, but if she gets worse ill get the vet out. thanks for the advice lads Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
ferret looking much improved today, still limping a bit, but was able to use stairs. playing about today so the wait saved me a £60 call out she should be ok Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
Good to hear. When my job had a limp he was ok after two days. I just limited his cage space and time out of cage for a day to force him to rest. Quote Link to post
