secretagentmole 1,701
Decided to make use of the good weather and get the SR12 zeroed in on the mark 3 (played optical merry go round again). Also decided to swap ammo. I have had enough of sorting our the squished JSB pellets, Prometheus worked well in the X2, try them in this! An hour or so setting up, zeroing in, sorting out the 5 metre steps, saw me ready for action. Recharged the gun off the 3l 300 bar and I was ready for a little trip through the woods. Target 1, wood pigeon, above me, got a good aim, hit it, it glided rather than fell, straight into a thicket of thorns and blown down branches. Oh round hairy spherical objects I exclaimed! Target 2, bushy tailed tree rat, aka Miss Grey. I aimed, got a good line on the head, squeezed the trigger gently, clink, thwack, Miss Grey hit the deck, dead! Target 3, wood pigeon, landed at the top of a tree that I was stood about 30 feet from. Got a good aim, clink, thwack, straight through the head, dropped straight down! Interesting dinner, pigeon and squirrel pie! Target 4, crow, sun was setting, landed in a tree, managed to get into a firing position, clink, caaaawwwww, thud, dead crow! Seeing as there are lambs in the field behind, a wise cull! So three different species fall prey to Dr Syn. Unfortunately I left the camera at home, but the pigeon and squirrel have been prepared for dinner, tomorrow or Monday! Edited May 4, 2013 by secretagentmole 1 Quote Link to post
reaper1064 285
Well done mate.I like the Prometheus but for some reason prefer the lighter Falcons. However when I did use the Prometheus they hit really hard. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Think I will fillet and flash fry the squirrel. The squirrel carcass sans meat and the pigeon simmer in a pint of water for 90 minutes with a few peppercorns. Strain water and save to make stock with. Remove meat from pigeon carcass, add squirrel, fry 1/4 lb bacon and 1/4 lb mushrooms, add with half a finely chopped small onion. Thicken stock and pour over. Top with shortcrust pie lid and glaze with beaten egg. Cook in a 200 degrees c oven for 30 minutes! Should make a lovely dinner, rabbit and squirrel works, so pigeon should be even better!
