Recommended Posts

Never believed in slipping pups in even though the majority do it,id rather wait till he or she is ready to have a go on there own and learn the trade for themselves

more they get their mouth round the better imo.doubled with a good killing dog less chance of getting a sickner every bodys different ways of getting pups going.

WHATS A SAPLING THOUGHT THAT WAS A YOUNG TREE

I will wager that 99% of the top coursing dogs past and present wernt waited with until 15 month before they were galloped, most would have had plenty of game put infront of them by then and the goodun

agree 100% only slip in that should ever be done imho is if a young pups meets mr right on wrong day , then maybe send in a seasoned soldier to put an end to it, and even then ya gotta question whose at fault, maybe not the pup?

they learn sod all from slip ins imho, gives em a false read of the workload they will face alone, maybe in the olden days this happened more and was even competed for was doubles, maybe thats cos they did not have the dogs we able to have nowadays ?

besides all the fair play buisness  how can ya carry a can of stella on a nice days coursing in the july heat when ya got a dog in each hand??? two dogs = no tinnies, the days ruined :censored:

Growth plates are not set until at least 15 months. Until that time no dog should be galloping other than play. Running dogs often carry injuries that are not outwardly obvious but stop them doing there best. This can be caused by early stress on joints.

Its a good idea to take a pup to a bone man for examination for injury before any serious running begins.

the N/east lads are the connesseurs of the coursing tipple or so I have been told LOL suppose they need it for coursing the Geordie girls on a Saturday night :whistling:

Could be true, not so easy for the strong silent type geordie boys to blow into a pretty girls ear as it is for the more southern impressario :boogy::laugh:
