Lidl (Cree Style) Torch

Recommended Posts

Well ive been using this torch from lidl for a little while now...have had to stick to close shots within the farmyard as have found that the light beam isn't that great a distance..even with the built in focussing. Was only £7 spent so didnt really break the bank.

Filters kill the white light. So unless it's a mega bright gazillion lumens, as soon as you stick the filter on, you will lose distance (Depending on the filter, red is the worst, amber/green don't absorb so much light). Only way to go is a RED (or green/blue etc) LED. That way you get ALL the light generated.

I spent £60 on a LED Lenza with filters, I then spent £5 on an ultra fire from China....can you guess which gives me the best red beam???

I have one of the cree torches on my ultra, beams about 100m, but the rifles zero'd for 30m

Was out for a wander over some football pitches, when the mist rolled in visibility, went down to about 10m, so i put the front scope cover back on.... yellow light cuts straight through the mist....

Just needed to move the torch forward :) and enough light for 30m

Having used the torch and made my conclusions... not to say they are a bad torch as they aren't too bad, the beam with my red filter just didnt shed any major distance and really did produce a dim red glow just enough to catch any rat movement .. my mate had a cheapo chinese torch which did produce quite an impressive beam over some distance as we found whilst lamping rabbits. Im not giving up on mine just yet but may try another torch see what results I come up with.
