What Your Favorite Terrier For Ratting?

As the title says what is your favorite terrier breed for ratting? In my opinion you cant beat a good Russell.

got to agree with HOT MEAT as long as they do the business dont matter what you got but my favourite are the russells love watching them work

I'm far from saying my plummer is anything special but i'm yet to see a terrier beat her in numbers caught or rats marked.

Here's a few pics of one time when we were threshing,you can see a few terriers about,then there's a pic of the plummers marking,what there marking is 8 rats under a big concrete block which we had to use a tractor to tow out.The other terriers didn't suss they were there until we were on to moving it,the last pic is the end of day pic so the other terriers knew what rats were but it was the plummers who caught the most and marked the best as usual

Got to agree fireman, plummers take some beating, better nose than most, which helps in a pile of shite, agile as they come too, buster.

Not terriers but whippets are great ratters and usually beat a terrier to a quick rat. Don't know if anyone else has experience of ratting with whippets.

Yep, had some enjoyable rat hunts with whippets

 

 

 

but my preference will always be for plummers, for their marking ability, intelligence and agility.
