hunter100t 56
Thing is mate, the word 'infestation' means different things to different folk! Some people see one or two and they're on the phone saying they're being overrun! Good luck with it mate, and if she is having a major problem and the rabbits are coming in from a neighbouring field or property, it might be worth mentioning that the owner of the land they're coming from has a legal responsibility to manage the rabbits or prevent them causing damage to neighbouring properties. If they're on friendly terms it could lead to even more permission on the land next door.. I have 5 farms in one area for the exact reason you mentioned, started with one ! But there was no argy bargy amongst the land owners, just helping each other out, and me in the process having free reign over all. All by word of mouth, only one door knocked. forget writing, they like to see you, so they can gauge you, safe shot and the rest of it. Hope it really is infested PIL, more power to you mate. atb phil 1 Quote Link to post

jw74 27
ive done the same thing really,i asked around a few places and the first place i tried gave me a phone number to speak to the boss the rest where no sorrys, but when i rang the boss up later in the evening he was delighted and said come round and see me and bring your rifle.at the time i was out with our friends horses so i went straight to his from there so no rifle. i had a look around and it was clear he was overrun with them, he must of said 3 or 4 times have you got your rifle i said no as its 8pm now i came straight here he said come and go as you please.then one afternoon i was at his and the neighbour started talking to me over the hedge and before i could ask she said you can come in and take care of my rabbits if you like.(result) then last week a mate of mine who keeps horses says you can shoot up my field whenever which is about 3 acres(2 paddocks) so ive been up there a couple of times and he says you can shoot my other field 8-10 acres a stone throw down the road.so i think its just about getting started and doing a good job,im going to the bigger field tomorrow to have a look but he reckons its got loads of bunnys on it. 1 Quote Link to post
PIL 7
How is it then steve? Latest update Sorry for the late update but with the swimming episode and the fact it was my little uns 10th birthday party things have been a little hectic. I turned up at 8pm Friday evening and knocked on the door to be greeted with a warm hand shake and an offer or a cup of tea whilst we go out the back to see the extent of the problem . Now maybe i being greedy and was expecting a larger garden than what was there . Using a range finder the garden measured 45x16 yards across and to say i was disappointment was an understatement but hey i thought show willing . The garden itself had a couple fruit trees and had a low level hedge running across halfway up the garden standing 3ft high with a gap of about a yard for walking access .I thought to myself how the fook am i going to sort this one out . The fella showed me where they were coming from but to be honest with the garden being surrounded by tall hedges and no mesh between the gardens the rabbits are coming and going as they please , self evident by all the droppings all over the short grass .He opened the back gate to show me where the problem stems from then i thought this is more like it , it is an allotment probably measuring 150 x 150 yards with a huge neatly ploughed field with a wooded area at the edge .He informed me that all the allotment keepers are up in arms with the rabbit problem and as the land is not owned by the council but owned by a private estate he would be putting a word in to try and get me the rights to shoot there . I don't know the law on shooting on such places (allotments) maybe someone could enlighten me ? . Anyway back to his house we go lock the back gate and out to my car with all the kit in it . I get one of the guns out AAs400 to let him have a look at , he hands it back then asked what that was pointing to my rangfinder . I told him to have a look through it and press the button on top pointing to a pigeon in a tree in next doors garden. He seemed quite impressed reading the screen "30 yds" he said . Then i showed him the night vision but obviously he could not look through that as it was still too light and it was not digital .Right he says i'll let you get on with it . Well to cut a long story short i stayed about two and a half hours and i only see one rabbit which i got and that was about 30 yds .as the time was just after 10.30 i decided to send them a txt thanking them for the opportunity and saying i'll be back in the near future to which the reply came back "your welcome any time" . Well the way i see it you got to take the rough with the smooth and if the allotments and adjacent land come off it will all be worth it Its a bit long winded and i could of lied but just saying how it went ps dont suppose your be coming on over then p1key dave as there's no fecking church's , your getting to old for that carry on anyhow Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
All that writeup for 1 rabbit? My eyes hurt reading it. The turd in the pool was far more entertaining. Fingers crossed on getting the allotment though. 2 Quote Link to post
