Ireland Views On Show/racing

my latest include 2 racing elite winners and there litter mate bess can be seen working on the lurchers ireland dvd ...

cant stress enough think before you breed, enjoy ur shows but think of the reason you have the dog, if its only for racing...buy a greyhound!

 

I don't think that's a very fair comment...................I know lots of people who take their racing very seriously!!!

no offence but if its racing that gets you going then the best buzz you ll get is from greyhounds as they are the cream of the crop and most people who take something seriously usually try to get to the highest level of said interest so racing dogs equals greyhounds !

Not neccessarily....................whippet racing, that is proper KC affiliated whippet racing is just as competitive, not the excuse for whippet racing we see at the shows over here tho!

get agrip will you i dont see sky running whippet racing on a weekly basis or RTE TELEVISION putting on a full televised nights whippet racing as they do for the irish greyhound derby ! if your serious about racing dogs then there s no equal to the racing greyhound and if you want a real buzz get yourself down to clonmel next feb for three days of top dogs and top craic at the boyle sports coursing festival i might even buy you a pint

well , i do take racing serious in a way and i like to get a fair run...i do crack up with the certain people that get away with persistant false slipping , after the man on the line shouting "anyone that false slips will be dis-quailfied " , i do get annoyed when certain dogs fight during races ...but at the end of the day , i have took on this elite buisness and have had to run my dogs in these categories, and have won both under23's and over 23;s twice from 2 runs ...and my dogs are working dogs!

my point is i see no harm in taking the racing seriously , but as long as you still see the main reasons the breed or type has been used for over 100' s of years,

it should never be breed from on looks alone...

the point i make is thats were new age lurcher "show" folk go wrong...

and were whippet show folk have been going wrong for years, but if i was to buy a pedigree whippet for working and racing make no mistake, lady jane id book 1 from you...

Might take you up on that lol.................. it may come as a surprise but I have owned a winning greyhound, track, and have been involved with family with a trial stakes winner (coursing)..............I have been to Clonmel, Dungannon, Drumbo, Celtic Park and a lot of other places.........and I prefer my whippets lol.............just because Sky doesn't televise it dosen't mean it's not good!!!!

CLONMEL, one of the best ever 3 day events ever, the atmosphere is un real, or maybe that was just all the drink id had !!lol

best crack ever and highly recommend it to anybody that is into working dogs...

jimmy buckly sang the irish national anthem before it started and even though i hadnt a clue what he was saying(i should be a shamed of myself!) i felt proud to be there and apart of culture that will be out lawed if we dont get behiden it soon....

tango .. your right in what you say, but honest terrier men that have been around terriers long enough and for the right reasons, ... that is to work terriers and nothing else can see the wood through the trees... but once again this is just my opinion
