2013 British And Irish Lions Tour To Australia.

Recommended Posts

Just been looking at the team and the thought struck me that, this team may bring something that the two others have not had. Cohesion, you have a team that has played together and know each other. The bench is full of good impact players, looking at the teams it seems Gats has gone back to what he knows, up the jumper and down the middle, trouble is, that has never worked against the Aussies, they seem to be able to soak that up all day.

We will see come Saturday.

What a great game and a great way to silence the "naysyers" the win was based on a power game and when played correctly is hard to live with for any team imo, yes its one dimensional at times but when

I like the way people of all nations have got behind the British and Irish lions on here. Some of the vitriol towards other nations players on other sites has to be seen to be believed. On this thread

Well a wins a win and thats about all. The ref aside (Dont like slagging refs off) the Lions looked very nervous and seemed to wait to see what the Wallibes did first before doing their own stuff. 3 i

First off congrats to Alun-Wyn on getting named captain, hope he has a game to remember.

A few big calls tbh, BOD dropped :hmm: and Davies at 13, not sure about that if I'm honest neither BOD or Davies had good games but I would've stuck with BOD and paired him with Roberts, BOD just as that experience but I suppose Doc and Foxy have a real good understanding having played together so much.

Phillips needs a big game but he just loves the big occasions so hopefully he'll be on it on Saturday. Maybe with Gatland going back to cement ball tactics it'll create some space for Bowe and North to use the pace and power we know they have.

I personally would've gone for SOB at 6 and Tipuric at 7, SOB is a great back row player but not a fetcher like Sam or Tipuric, Faletau deserved to be in at 8 though Heaslip as had a solid tour and put lots of un-noticed work in last week and can count himself unlucky.

Another big call in dropping Young's to the bench, the lad as had a great tour and I think Hibbard is in because he's better come scrum time, great to see Corbisiero back he was great around the field in the first test and was missed last week.

We really need to shackle Genia as he's just been awesome for the Wallabies, he always seems to have so much time and space. If we can stop the Wallaby backs before they get going then I think we can sneak it. :victory:

I just hope Hibbard can get his act together for the lineout. He deffo adds some horsepower to the scrum, but what advantage we have gained there with him in the team has been somewhat mitigated in the lineout so far on tour.. Fingers crossed he has a good game.

If we win on saturday then I'm gonna kiss Arch's head at the fishing comp :D , he's wanted the welsh midfield from the beginning. I honestly thought with Roberts fit he would've started with him and BOD, its a big call leaving BOD out tbh.

I'd have thought he'd have had him on the bench at least.. Just noticed Cuthbert is out of the squad altogether too, another big call seeing how his try helped the team to win the first test.. :hmm:

they could have left him on the bench, he been Brill for the sport, this was his last game, they shoud have let him come on .for this last game :yes:

Cuthbert isn't the best at getting his positioning right in defence and you need to be against Australia.

There is that, but do you not think he'd be useful on the bench to bring on late in the game when legs are tiring and a few gaps are starting to open up? :hmm:

Imo he should've started and not just as a romantic gesture for what he's done for rugby, the guy is still a class act  he's made the most tackles of all the centres and missed none. The tour captain is out of the game so his leadership skills and experience were needed more than ever, I really can't get my head round it tbh.

No winger on the bench Mal, I don't think that Gatland is planning to win it with a open game, he's gonna try and grind them down and rely on Halfpenny kicking pens.

Seems that way John.. Can Farrell play at 15? If so I suppose he could shift halfpenny forward onto the wing if needs be.

Not sure Mal, Bowe as played 15 a lot, I would imagine Manu will cover the wing if need be.

About the only problem I see is as SoB is not an out and out jackler, who is going to turn over the ball when Lydiate ankle chops them? It might have made more sense to start withTips then brought SOB on for his carrying later in the game?
