I like the way people of all nations have got behind the British and Irish lions on here. Some of the vitriol towards other nations players on other sites has to be seen to be believed. On this thread

Well a wins a win and thats about all. The ref aside (Dont like slagging refs off) the Lions looked very nervous and seemed to wait to see what the Wallibes did first before doing their own stuff. 3 i

Got a few Six Nations tournaments to go first GTE! :D

Just for curiosity's sake. This coming 6 nations, do you think the lions tour will have a detremental effect on the Welsh chances? In that the other nations will have had a look-see into Gatlands game plans, you know the ones, up the middle and smash them, and then theres smash them up the middle before we go wide?

Seriously though, do you think that he previously wanted to play a team like he fielded today, but felt it was politically incorrect?

Just wondering like mun. :hmm:

What a great game and a great way to silence the "naysyers" the win was based on a power game and when played correctly is hard to live with for any team imo, yes its one dimensional at times but when executed right is so hard to defend against. The wallabies had a good 10 minutes before half time and a good spell after the break getting to within 3 points but the Lions showed there mettle and just upped the intensity when the replacements came on and gave them the "rhino horn"

Thought there was some huge performances Corbisiero was a rock in the scrums and put in a good shift in the loose and along with Hibbard gave the scrum that extra bit that showed yesterday, Adam well he was his usual rock solid self on the tight head, did some good clearing work at the rucks too. The replacements came on and just started were the lads left off, Tom Youngs again impressing for me.

AWJ and Parling were immense putting in tackle after tackle, AWJ led by example and Parling just followed his lead putting in what was probably a try saving ankle tap. They both put in a huge shift in the engine room and that showed with our dominance at scrum time. Good to see Gray get a run out off the bench he did well when he came too.

What can you say about the back row they were tireless, SOB put an huge shift in making loads of tackles and was always a willing carrier, his work yesterday was second to none, Lydiate had a great game putting in a lot of work clearing rucks and sealing ball off, he just gets on with his work nothing flashy but always around helping in the tight(ala Richard Hill) Toby showed yesterday why he deserved his spot, making 11 carries and hardly failing to get over the gain line, just looked really comfortable at this level and for a 21 yr old showed maturity beyond his age. Great show from the loose forwards today nothing flashy or stand out just real solid play.

Phillips was quiet again imo, he got caught a few times but his size and strength showed in contact, I thought Murray really upped the intensity when he came on and over shadowed Phillips. Great game for Murray off the bench. Sexton was his usual solid self and marshaled the play well, great support for his try.

Roberts and Davies were solid as usual in midfield tackling everything, a great line by Doc for his try and Davies left boot relieved loads of pressure yesterday and vindicated his place in the team after BODgate :D ran a great soft shoulder beating 2 men for the Sexton try.

Well big George got another try and him and Bowe were great in defence, Tommy ran a great line taking defenders away for Davies to make the break for Sextons try. Both wingers were solid without being too flashy.

Leigh Halfpenny well what can you say about him, I think at times he has a gps in the ball :D just always seem to be in the right position all the time and ran some great attacking lines, his kicking is metronomic and Player of the series was always going to be between him and North tbh.

What a great game of rugby and the Lions really stood up and were counted, what a great feel good win for this Nation and well done to everybody involved in the tour. :victory:

To be honest T the other home nations have seen how we play for the last few seasons and haven't really been able to stop our cementball tactics, we have a strong 15 -23 players but we're struggling for depth when players like Phillips and Adam Jones retire and thats what will hamper our future rather than our style of play imo.

Anyway this thread is about the British and Irish Lions not Wales. :D

Are you forgetting we were beaten finalists in the recent JWC butt and were one game short of winning the U21 Six Nations?:laugh: We've got a decent young team coming through the ranks and several of our current senior squad have still got a decade left in them, not time to start panicking just yet.. ;)

However.. What is worrying me is the other young team that beat our boys to both those titles..:laugh:

We play under 20's they play under 21's.

Mal we've always had a good crop of youngsters but they never seem to develop into much, hopefully get the structure sorted so some of these youngsters can get brought into the region's and start developing tidy. We're having trouble keeping a lot of senior players in the domestic leagues at the moment so when these youngsters are coming through they're not getting to play with the established stars, on the other hand England's JWC squad had 8-10 players already playing for Aviva prem teams and that showed imo.

Well the Lions series is well and truley over, what a roller-coaster of a series it was too. Plenty of highs and lows, it was good to see the unity for the Lions in this thread. A special thanks to our resident expert Johnny for his insight and punditry.

An old cynic like myself was not surprised we lost the second test, ( I doubt you would have had 80 plus thousand attendance for the last test if we had won it.) But it's done and dusted now. Time to look forward to the A I tests and a new thread where we can be once again partisan.

Robbie Deans resigns(before he was sacked lol)

I always enjoy the rugby threads on here..........roll on 2017. :D

No All Blacks for us in the autumn then and no South Africa for England, would love to see southern hemisphere teams play all the home nations but I suppose thats asking too much of them. Be nice for us to have a crack at the wallabies again but I would've prefered to see us play the AB's to see where we actually are, looking forward to them none the less.
