macberran 2
The full Australia squad to face the Lions and no Quade Cooper, can't believe Robbie Deans hasn't picked him. They have history, I know, he called the Wallabies set up "toxic" I think as an international coach you need to put the best players out there and Quade Cooper is one of them, nevermind its Australia's loss. Tiercel 6,986
The mind games have started for the first test, http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/22841337 I just love them. TC
johnny boy68 11,726
64-0 Good first half but very slow poor second half, Hogg looked ok at 10 seemed more confident than Farrell has, a few line outs went awry and all the changes in the second half didn't help but I suppose now is the time to try things. Hopefully be better opposition from the Warratahs on the weekend to get the Lions better prepared.
Tiercel 6,986
Watched the whole game, Was not impressed with a few of the players in the second half, wondering why he did not pull off BOD after he hurt his leg? To be honest I don't think Sam will make the first test, there will be issues with his knee or some sort of injury to stop him playing, as captain he cannot just not pick him. He should have been playing to day to get his fitness levels up. I will stick my kneck out and say Tupric @7 and SOB @ 6 for the first test. TC

TC I still think he'll start with Lydiate at 6, 7 and 8 still up for grabs imo. Be interesting to see this weekends selection, I'd like to see Phillips and Sexton start at 9/10, see how they go together.
Tiercel 6,986
Phillips and Sexton could work, infact could work well. Mikes abrasive style and darting runs could give Sexton a bit of space? TC

TC I didn't think he should have made the plane, let alone the test team, but never mind. What about Croft ?? Has he played yet ?? (Iv'e not managed to watch all the games) POC as captain. Tupric at 7, Croft at 6, Faletau at 8, but only just. Phillips is a shoe in. I'd play anyone at 10 before i played Farrell, so Sexton it is. North, Jones.........And the rest is still up for grabs IMHO.
Tiercel 6,986
The problem is that the reds apart the lions have had no opposition. That said what these games have shown is which players are team players. There are a few that even through these joking matches have shown a comitment to the lions ethos, and to be honest I would pick them first above the glory boys. johnny boy68 11,726
Billy Twelvetrees called up has cover for Sexton and Farrell. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/jun/12/billy-twelvetrees-lions-australia-tour
Malt 379
Surely we have better on standby? I'm just surprised they didn't go straight back to '03 and get on the phone to Wilkinson.. Maybe he's told them he'll only come over for the tests, thought he was on standby for potential cover at 10?

johnny boy68 11,726
Manu's carrying a knock so maybe something to do with that aswell, would've thought Hook would've been a better "utility" cover call up tbh.

He's been chronically underused in the international set up, but saying that I can't really complain with the way we've been playing under him..
