johnny boy68 11,726
Thats a big loss, not just in terms of ability but experience too.. Thats right mate but he's been on 2 tours with the Lions so that'll be some consolation I hope, gutted that Paul James didn't get the call to replace him though but I suppose the Welsh bias thing thats being talked up had an effect on that. Heres a feel good gif, metronomic kicking !!
Frann 882
Another win! Go Lions
johnny boy68 11,726
Good test for the Lions that was. Well George North was standout an awesome show of power and skill, hope Tommy Bowe's injury isn't bad. Vinupola another good display, Lydiate another mins and did loads of work with some great tackling in that last 20. The subs Adam Jones, POC and Sexton looked good coming on as did Tupuric and Hibbard, all in all a pleasing display imo.
Tiercel 6,986
My stream packed up just after half time and I tried others but could not get it back From what I seen cooper could have just played his self in to the ausie squad? What the hell Stevens is doing I do not know, all I seen him do was hit rucks late and sit on his arse watching them carry on with play. The first half was close to the intensity they needed, wish I could have seen the last 20. TC
johnny boy68 11,726
No official news from Lions but looks like Bowe's tour is over. Gutting news if its right, he would've been in my test team. http://sportsnewsireland.com/rugby/rugby_irish/tommy-bowe-ruled-out-of-lions-tour-2013-06-08/

TC Cooper played well for the Reds, Stevens just looked out of place on there tbh, Cole looked good at Loose Head when he came on too.

johnny boy68 11,726
Simon Zebo called up for the Lions. Ireland wing Simon Zebo has become the third player to be called up to the British and Irish Lions squad on tour in Australia.Zebo, 23, has been summoned as cover with uncertainty over whether compatriot Tommy Bowe will be able to play any further part in the tour.Bowe has undergone an operation to repair a broken bone in his hand sustained in Saturday's win over Queensland Reds in Brisbane.Zebo will join the squad on Tuesday. The Munster man, capped five times, will travel from the United States, where Ireland beat the hosts 15-12 in the first Test of their summer tour on Saturday. The Lions said Bowe's condition will be assessed over the next days.Another winger, Rob Kearney, is yet to play any part in the tour after suffering a torn hamstring but is expected to return to training this week.Zebo, who can also play at full-back, was a strong contender for a place in the original Lions squad after a sparkling start to the Six Nations in Ireland's win over Wales. But he broke a metatarsal in his right foot early in the second game of the Championship against England, and only returned to action in the final few games of the season.Zebo joins England prop Alex Corbisiero and Scotland loose-head Ryan Grant in receiving a summons to supplement the original squad after injuries to Cian Healy and Gethin Jenkins.Corbisiero and Grant will both be pitched straight into action as part of the match-day squad for Tuesday's game against a Combined Queensland-New South Wales Country XV in Newcastle. So unlucky for Bowe had is hand broke by Geoff Parling standing on it, what a gutter.
Tiercel 6,986
One thing is for certain Zebo does not lack for pace. If he has the defence of Bowe? Well QED. He is great in attack mode but I have not seen enough of him to be able to comment on his defence. As a bye I think that Cuthbert has played himself out of a start for the first test with his 'lack of defence'. TC Edited June 9, 2013 by tiercel

TC What about Roberts 12, BOD 13 and Manu on the one wing and North on the other Wouldn't say Cuthbert is bad in defense its more to do with bad positioning at times, you have to remember he's only been playing rugby at any level for 5 years. If Kearney's fit for the first test he could play him or Hogg at 15 and move Halfpenny to the wing though, plenty of options in the backs tbh. Loose head prop is our problem position at the moment I'd say, my test selection at the moment would be... 1.Vinupola 2.Hibbard 3.Jones 4.POC 5.AWJ 6.Lydiate 7.Tupuric 8.Heaslip 9.Phillips 10.Sexton 11.North 12.Roberts 13.BOD 14.Cuthbert/Zebo 15.Halfpenny
Tiercel 6,986
The team for the combined country was announced yesterday. Right team announced for Tuesdays game...15. Maitland14. Cuthbert13.BOD12. Roberts11. North 10 hogg9. Murray1. Corbisiero2. Hibbard3. Cole4. Gray5. Evans6. O'Brien7. Tipuric8. HeaslipBenchBest, Grant, Stevens, AW Jones, Faletau, Phillips, Davies, Halfpenny Seems Hogg is in more favour than hook as an utility back. Looking at that pack though it does seem as if he will get go forward ball. Its the back-up spot for 10 for him to take Tuesday. There have been romours that Sextons hamstring is playing up, I hope not but he can get himself a place if it is true. TC
johnny boy68 11,726
I think they should be giving Farrell as much game as possible, the poor lads confidenceis real low
Malt 379
I think they want to see Hogg play fly half because after 3 games they've seen Farrell and Sexton play there. Hogg was mentioned as cover for 10 when the squad was announced, maybe they want to see if he'd be up to the task in that role so they can put someone on standby if he's not?
