No idea lol.............from mainland UK, that's all I know, you can never please everyone when you judge, and to a certain extent I agree wit UTB, I found it hard following what the lurcher judge was looking for, but that's not a criticism, each to their own..............

Cracking show dessie, had a real good day out. if your dog wins or not, it's still a good days craic.

Totally agree with vermin catcher. There's too many shows on this that get a lot of undeserved stick and grief, and mostly by people who weren't even them. Like I said before dessie great show.

Ah well, all's I can say is that when I judge I don't care who is on the end of the lead, it's the best dog in my opinion that wins.....now I'm not saying my opinion is right/wrong or otherwise, but it is my opinion lol..........don't think much of a judge that would be told what to do!!

Judging is a thankless task at the best of times, but without judges you don't have shows............the least you can ask for is an honest opinion, I like a days craic, meeting up with folk and havin a chat,I really don't take the showing that much to heart lol...........too many do and that's the problem!

Yes Sammy, that would be my understanding............................but unfortunately there are no rules at these shows! Common sense would tell you that if a dog is beaten by another, even if the beaten dog then wins a subsequent class, the other dog still has to be placed higher, as a judge you will not change your mind in such a short space of time, unless the previously winning dog goes lame etc

So i should only put my dog into one class and if it dose not get picked out or it gets second or third place there is no point putting it in to any other class that it maybe suited for .

Janet,

You must have seen this happen even at Championship KC shows even if it is rarely but can happen if the stewarding is not up to scratch and there are big classes. At a Ch Show I saw a dog effectively re judged 3 times and placed differently twice.

If a beaten dog later wins it could be because the judge cannot remember how he/she placed the dogs relative to each other, poor stewarding or that the dog was genuinely handled and shown better and looked differently to when it was first beaten. Better stewarding would help to aid the judges memory of how he /she placed dogs , dogs having show numbers and for the final challenge it being open only to unbeaten dogs.

Albert i ponted out to the judge that the fawn bull cross had been beating by johns dog in a class and also beating in the lamping class as well by leanne rea dog as well i cant tell people [BANNED TEXT] classes to show there dogs in nither can i tell a judge what dogs to pick !!! The judge told me he placed the dogs in the classes that most suted them there for in the final he he said the fawn bull cross showed better and was a working dog and as a it was a working lurcher show thats what should win it !!!! The judge did not know anyone at the show but what he did tell me was a number of lurcher people tried to tell him how much there dogs had won one person in the over rought dogs told him ther dog was unbeaten up and down the country and he said the same happened in the under 23 smooth class by doing this done them no favers with the judge !! I cant and will niver tell any judge what he should or should not do you ask judges to come over to N ireland to judge for you and this is what you get some people that dont win be it at raceing are showing comeing on here under false names haveing a go at people trying to run shows and then the judges for not putting them up !!! We all know who is behind most of this ! Well if you dont like the way i run my shows then dont come to them and iam sure the same goes for any other shows that are run here in N I reland
