Its Nice To Find A Bargain

Recommended Posts

Last night I was doing my usual flicking through gumtree using all the search words that they normally do not allow to be advertised on there.
I type air rifle......Nothing. :hmm: .....I remove air and leave rifle.

Bingo ! listed just now it said 5 Gun rifle cabinet with locking top box, 2 sets of keys, 6ft tall 290mm wide, 320mm deep
for a grand price of £50 :icon_eek: Has all the unto date locks ( 5 lever type ) that is required for police approval if the need be !
I get there and was just about to offer him £40 when he said I have new rawl bolts here as well you can have them.
Bought it and fixed it in today !
Brattonsound make in cracking knick.

Over the moon, thats the best cabinet and the cheapest I have ever had.

Best bit is my wife was out last night when I collected it, I said nothing about it.Just stashed it in the spare room.
She goes to work today ! I fit it in a cupboard in our spare room that backs to a solid brick wall, (she does not go in there much as its all full of my sh1t)
I wonder what she will say when she see's it ?
She might not find it until xmas until she goes to get the fake tree out.
:D

The HW100KT looks well in there with a full locking top box of pellets mags and other precious crap us "blokies" buy

Nice buy! I am going to be looking for a couple of scoped rifle safes soon!

Yeah, you need the deeper cabinet to store the rifle with scope on.

This one houses the 100 nice and thats all I want it for.

Previously I have had to buy huge shorty cabinets to house my rimmys with scopes ( ended up with 3 cabinets side by side in our bedroom )

Yes my mrs hated that ..LOL

Spoke too soon...........
She noticed the red dust in the Dyson "SH1T"
Whats the red dust in the hoover she asked ?
I said what dust, fVck nose.
She said I never hoovered up anything like that, so what have you been using the hoover for ?
I said, Nowt

She leaves the room and I hear her mooching about ( Tw@t ! )

A few minutes pass...still all quiet.
THEN I get...whats that in the spare room ?
I say what and wait a min I am busy here.
She says..."No" there is another gun cabinet in the spare room and its in the cupboard.
I say , I know I put it there you were out and you never seen me do it.
I never had time to mention it as I have been busy, but I was going to say when I had a chance to mention it.
She asked what I paid, I owned up and said "its a bargain, I will get £100 for that if I sell it don't worry."
Showed her some on ebay and she seen it was worth it.....Phew I am off with it. I think
It was nothing / no big issue really. She was fine.
Wish she was in when I brought it in now, I feel guilty for hiding it. :icon_redface:
Wor lass ! she is a guddin really.

In my house it's the other way round. I have to watch her when she comes in from wherever she's been to see what she's been squandering my money on.

The other day, she'd been down the gun club and, on her way back, she just happened to 'drop into' the local army surplus store. Lo and behold, she walks in wearing a nearly new army jacket thingy. I think she thought she'd got away with it but I sussed on straight away. I just let her get into the house before cornering her and asking the fateful question - How much?

After flustering and blustering for what seemed like a long time (a bit like Fieldsports did, I reckon) she started off with all the old b@llax about how good it'll be for her shooting HFT, how comfortable it is, how suitable it is for her to wear during the summer instead of her camo jacket, and then she told me...........THREE POUNDS FIFTY PENCE!

How on earth does she expect for me to keep house and home together when she goes out squandering brass willy nilly like that?

I ask you.

Well, it's been nice knowing you, Fieldsports. You will. I'm sure be missed here on the forum.

However, in the unlikely event that you survive the post-confessional mauling, I've heard that living on life-support isn't so bad once you adapt. I understand it's the tubes that are the most difficult to come to terms with - not the tubes themselves, you understand - It's where they stick them that's the issue. :icon_eek:

So good luck with your cathartic outpourings - I wish you well.

BTW - I got mine last night. She was out practicing for an hour or so and, when she came in, I enquired how she'd got on. When she gave me the rundown I, as you do, offered her the benefit of my limited experience - all in the spirit of sharing as I'm sure you'll understand. At the time, it seemed to be taken quite well.

However, a bit later, she was rather quiet and so I asked if there was anything wrong. This was rapidly answered by a stream of invective the like of which I last heard coming out of my company sergeant major's mouth - and he was a scouser, so he was very well versed in the language of the gutter!

It turns out that she had been very pleased with her achievements and my advice had been taken as a criticism of her efforts.

In answer to it, all I can say is -

1. Go forth and do what?

2. No, Mrs Hand and her five lovely daughters do not feature largely in my life these days.

3. From my short time in the army I did actually learn which end the bullets come out of.

At that point, I beat a well advised and very hasty retreat! I don't exactly know how things are this morning but at least I didn't wake up to find a couple of small'ish spherical objects on a saucer by my night light. So that's a good thing. Perhaps she's got something else planned! :icon_eek:

I'll keep you posted.
