Cock Pheasants Shouting ....?

Recommended Posts

Surely an easy enough one for you Gamekeepery types?

I was just wondering: When a cock bird stands about shouting, does that mean he has a brooding hen close by? Or is he looking for one?

Thanks.

two things on his mind "sex and violence"

Well, yes, I figured he'd be on the Stella and giving it large with his shirt off. But, I'm still not clear if he's doing that because he has a bird, or if he wants one.

Good that, isn't it? Want a girlfriend? Rip your shirt off. Get saturated in lager and stand there, screaming " Cuuuuuum Onn Yoooo Kuuuuunts!!!!! ". I mean, is there any sight and sound more likely to draw that sweet little thing next door to you?

Aah, right! So it's a standard territorial thing ~ ' I Own This Corner: Come and get it, girls! ' Rather than a 'Stay away from my woman!' thing?

So, he'n in fact more likely a bachelor? Cool! Just wondered. I was wondering about finding the nest. Now it sounds like there's really no such short cut.

Hey ho. Thanks, guys

He's got a mate!!! :boogy: Just been out there and a glimpse of 'white' out on the field caught my eye. Looked through the hedge and there they were. And, boy! Is she a pale one?! Like a sun bleached cardboard cut out.

Still don't know if she was off the nest for a feed, or what. I'll just leave them in peace now though. I can't be doing with poking around in that fence line.

I love it when the lanky little poults appear and have a dust bath on my turning space :)

:icon_eek: Eh??? What, you're assuming I knew that? I can promise you I didn't. And, now I do, it pleases me because that'll mean more pheasents around this couple of farms.

That's nice, because we don't touch them here. We only have wild birds, so it'd be good to see them build up a bit.
