if i'm honest i've forgot was in blokes house for an hour chatting about dogs, was looking over dam when i asked but cant remember what he said, i wouldnt have know them anyway, dam was a cracker, lovely broad head, nice and stong, 6 pups altogether, 2 died at birth, i got his phone number and i'll ring him and ask again, was looking over his 9 lurchers, very nice bloke, very helpful loved talking about his dogs, dont we all.

Have called and he's Nuttal x Wheeler. Cheers.

because of the gun,s on the hunt with the coulour of the dog easy mistaken for fox

Yeah I get that I wouldn't work red dogs around guns either but luckily for me in this part of the world hunt terrierwork isn't carried out like that so I'm free to use whatever dog does the job regardless of colour. ottv.jpg
When I was in scotland & hounds marked to ground, it was my choice who was & who was not at the hole, if there wasn't anyone I trusted, I'd do it myself. Things go wrong when u let any old fool at a hole..

When a dog shows at a hole, red or not, it will usually shake itself.

A fox won't but it wouldn't be the first time the hounds have chopped a terrier, or some numpty with a gun had shot one

Cheers, D.

if the dog has just bolted a fox ,......i dont think it will shake its self off .....usually a way in full cry and thats when the mistakes with the guns/ hounds happen ......they dont know how many was bolted.......!! the hounds wont go for a dog what just shows at a hole........if that was the case then the huntsman needs a serious talking too....!!

Dogs come out of holes whether the fox has bolted or not.

Like I wrote, it wouldn't be the first time. :hmm:
