Oldskool 29 Posted April 27, 2013 Report Share Posted April 27, 2013 plan to get a few chickens soon some free eggs for me and the muts.. my plan is to build it all out of natural materials from the woods behind my home except for the mesh but that is it.... iv been out today collecting some lengths of hazel around 5ft long. just wondering if anyone else has done similar a few photos would be good :thumbs: atb Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Oldskool 29 Posted April 27, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 27, 2013 tbh i dont think the foxes would be a problem and at night the chickens will be locked away. do you think i should do anything to the wood before hand treat it with anything at all? i plan on burying it and part of the mesh so far down. fireman 11,050 Posted April 28, 2013 Report Share Posted April 28, 2013 I've been thinking of doing the same type of thing with my aviaries and i was going to use ash poles due to strength and lightness and i myself won't be treating it for a couple of years to let it get settled and looking naturaly joined type thing,if that makes sence?.I won't be burying mine but i would treat it if i was going to,i recon it'll be a good look with a few native finches behind it but i surpose chooks would look ok to Quote Link to post Share on other sites
