Hw77 .20 V Rizzini 12G U/o

Recommended Posts

Three shots in the back garden told me the old girl was still pushing lead and the scope still zeroed. We set off for the shoot at about 5ish in the evening for a bit of bunny bashing, as we walked up the edge of what used to be an old railway line in the good old days of steam, we could see a few youngsters frolicking in the evening sunlight, sticking close to the edge I managed to get in range, shouldering the 77 and using my thumb stick as a front rest I could almost see myself tucking a fresh bunny in the game bag, but it was not meant to be, perhaps after not shooting the rifle for nearly 2 years I should have shot more than three pellets through it in the back garden, a bit irresponsible looking back now. Still I was determined to put one in the bag first and was a bit worried when I heard the report from the Rizzini, but a quick mobile call set my mind at rest with as it transpired a double miss at some errant pigeons, likely a more than ambitious shot the cause!! I nestled in the bushes but wasn't happy with my vantage point, looking to the left I spied an old oak tree which looked fairly easy to climb, at this point my son appeared from the other side of the bank and passed me up the rifle, unloaded I have to add, after I'd managed to scramble up the tree. After half an hour the first youngsters started to edge out, unfortunately so did my son and spooked them back into the bushes, another half hour and out they were again, I rested the front and on my knee waited for the head to come up and squeezed the trigger, a couple of flips and the first one was in the bag, I reloaded and within 30 seconds another one was in the crosshairs, again the 77 hit the mark but this one flipped into the thicket and for the first time I wished I'd bought the dog, how I'd have got it up the tree I don't know but at least I'd have found the rabbit and not nearly torn myself to shreds looking. So at the end of the day, Rizzini O HW77 1, the old girl still brings home the bacon, which I have to say was much appreciated by the ferrets. Give a man a pack of fish fingers and he can feed his family for a day, give him a HW77 and he'll feed his family for a lifetime.
