tinson1 16
I'm looking to get another rifle, I have a few already but I have got the worm and NEED more! My main gun is a BSA ultra se emerald which I am waiting to get tench regged and x tuned, my second rifle is a Brocock contour super six, birth of these rifles are in .177, now my new rifle will be 1 of a few guns, a r10, s510, hw100 or a daystate, all very different I no, but just waiting for the right 1 too come along and when it feels right ill buy it, all good guns in there own right, my ultra will be the same if not better than a r10, just look a little different, but then I could spend more money and get a r10 tuned ect.., so then I thought about getting it in .22, so I have something different. Also been reading a lot of posts about lads having big bags and mostly in .22, I go hunting for birds and rabbits but I also am a member of a rifle club so I also shoot at targets at 25-30yrds, so just asking the question which should I go for? .22 or .177? kruby01 114
as already said the answer will never be agreed but you have two .177's so why not ad a .22 to the collection 1 Quote Link to post
tinson1 16
That's what I was thinking and I think my new gun will be my main hunting gun keep others for range or the odd trip out Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
.22 is better for hunting IMO and you already got 2 .177's..... Quote Link to post
Matt Cottrell 23
I have .22 an 2 .177 I love the .22 but tend to use .177 a lot more I like the stopping power off the 22 but 177 is a faster flatter pellet . But put any cal pellet in the right spot it's game over.down to what suits you mate Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Use a heavyweight .177 and square the circle, either that or buy a .2! Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
Someone needs to pin a .177 v .22 thread 1 Quote Link to post
brucemyster 75
have the best of both worlds and go .20!! I've got a HW77 .20 and it has a nice flat trajectory but enough weight in the pellet to give good percussion and not just drill everything. Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
try a HW100 in 22...close up you can trace shoot with no sight lolol. i cant help thinking..borrow a .22 for a month and get some time in with it, if posable definatly get some ratting in, just to see...i hated the .22 on rats. Roy Williamson 15
With pcp you also have the advantage of more shots per fill in .22, I also find my hw99s in .177 is a lot more lively to shoot than the same in .22. There is also the difference in cost of pellets but I usually buy premium pellets so money saving on ammo never comes in to it and I never shoot cheap ammo for plinking. I am using superdomes in the .22 and Defiant HFT in .177 ( which I find superb) Quote Link to post
