Biggest Mistake

Recommended Posts

whats your biggest mistake while on a pest control job?

mine is turning up to an early season ant job, finding no ants around so doing a spray round with a residual spray, returning later to find iv sprayed pharoe ants. Leaving a body grip AND a fenn trap saftey catch on at the same job and scaring the shiit out of a squirrel that later chewed through a joist before I could catch it.

shooting a hole through my car roof while out after rabbits with the rimfire :icon_redface: left a flap which i just bent back and cellotaped to stop the rain coming in

Iv seen a mate blow a wing mirror off doing the same... while driving round a roundabout...dont ask!

Wearing moleskin trousers whilst collecting a large swarm of pissed of bees.

I was stung about 30 times in the same place on the same knee every time I knelt down and my trousers went tight.

Another was treating a high wasp nest in a small hole in a window mullion. I couldn't use ladders as the ground below was seriously slippy decking. I opted for the duststick!!! After a successful application the nozzle got stuck in the hole and the top section was left hanging 20 ft up as the poles detached.

I had to climb out through a bloody upstairs window to retreive it.

Needless to say duct tape is always in my box now.

Drove 19 miles to one of my permissions to shoot a deer that had been hit by a car that was stood 200m out in a field .only to find the 243 bolt wasn't going to work in the 308 ...another 19 home ....another 19 back .....19 home again ..lesson learnt ..check your kit properly!

Netted a fox, sacked it because the owner didnt want it killing, just removing, took it back to the van, then went to check some more earths :hmm:

You can guess what happened, little fecker got out the sack,as i opened the back doors it shot out and did one :whistling:

Could'nt believe what i was seeing, neither could the dogs!!!

It had taken a shite in the passenger footwell and pissed all over,my mate was not happy on the drive home.

Took weeks for the smell to go.

i used to have a terrier that wouldnt do a thing it was told. i pulled up at a big mansion house to do some mole trapping and the dog was standing next to me while im talking to the lady when all a sudden it sees a squirrel and its off!!

The woman was dead posh and she was shouting at me to control the dog so im shouting at the dog who isnt taking one bit of notice as its chasing the squirrel round and round a rhododendron bush. The woman is now going mad at me so i end up chasing the dog, which in turn is chasing the squirrel round the rhododendran bushes on her grounds. It must have looked like a benny hill sketch. I looked such a fooking amateur all because the terrier wouldnt listen to a word it was told!

Once lost 6 lambs to a fox, eventually found the earth in a small wood so went to see the owner, an old woman, dedicated conservationist and animal lover. Set to work convincing her to let me dig this fox. Just won her round after 30mins, she had her head screwed on and understood the need for fox control, just then my phone rang, the ring tone was off bo selecta- 'love killing foxes me! Ginger b*stards' full volume! I wanted the earth to swallow me up!
