ive no doubts that a well bred and cared for pet ferret will work just as good as any purpose bred jmho

If you believe that then you obviously haven't worked as many different ferrets for as long a time as it would take for you to realise that the above statement simply isn't that case..

 

dont think i got my point across clearly what i meant was a young pet bred ferret is no different to a young purpose bred ferret working wise when entered properly and no im no expert with consistant decades under my belt but ive had both from a pet home and purpose bred have you?my ferrets may not be world beaters in others opinions they may be shite but they do the job for me im no big time great white hunter mind altho ive been into ferrets and hunting long enuff to have an opinion pal you can be sure of that atb

Yes I have.. No need to get defensive either, like you say we're all entitled to our opinions but the ones which are backed up experience of what we're talking about generally hold more weight..

im not saying one bred off pets wont work, but for me it has too be worker to worker,

because ferrets usually have large Litters, those that breed on here, that work them will have a few spare,

so you don't really need to use pets, and some on here have their own strains going back a few years, all worker to worker.

As I said it would be different if working stock was hard to find, but on this site its not.
