Baw, I get what you mean now. BUT do you really think that politics is the same as industry? It requires a different person with the savvy for beurocracy and democracy. Also, If I'm not mistaken the Secretaries in charge of each department do usually have history and experience in the relavent industries.

 

Some DO have the relevant experience.... to begin with. Then when there's a reshuffle, somehow the bloke who was the health secretary is now in charge of transport, the transport bloke is in charge of schools etc. How can they be experts in all that?

Well, I'd say someone with political experience and someone with industry experience.

 

The industry I'm in we struggle like feck to find salesmen with commercial experience/knowledge as well as the high end technical knowledge of the products and data they are trying to sell. Often the best solution is a good salesmen with good technical advisors.....

Joe public gets brought down as incompetent and needs to be ruled. It's joe public who built the roads, the railways, the airports. the best brain surgeons, mathematicians, doctors, engineers, businessmen, teachers, builders, etc are ALL joe public. Why do we have a bunch of silver spoon fed idiots running us and we all feel the need to vote them in. Joe public should be running the country. No vote I say.

That's a joke, right so joe public runs the country........ what if I don't agree with the way he's running the country, what then? Another Joe public says "I can do a better job and this is how I would do it blah blah....". So then who get's to run the country, which one, the one I agree with or the one you agree with? So we vote................ and hey presto we have politicians again.

 

It's like politics is some dirty word ffs! It's this simple, we either live in a democracy with politicians or a dictatorship without. Just because we don't like the main ones doesn't make them all rotten. It's pretty easy to focus on the rotten ones and plain ignore decent ones, where's the money in selling news about decent politicians?

Sigh........ Ok, I'll try and explain what I mean. Right now lets say you vote labour, they win. They are made up of say 30 members, who all get hand picked for certain rolls. E.g, mrs smith, you can run the transport, mr jones, your in charge of the health service. Babera, your on foreign affairs..... Barbera fucks up, mr jones gets caught fiddling his taxes.... Right, cabin reshuffle, babera, you take over the health service, mr jones, your on foreign affairs..... They spend a fortune on advisers telling them how to do there job, this is what your voting for. Now, I'm suggesting do away with the lot and let people who have been in the chosen industries run that given sector. It's not rocket science, joe public should be running the country he knows about it more than them. All a politician knows is how to talk hot air, that's it.

 

Anybody who had been in REAL business couldnt run the country because the numbers dont stack up !!.........if most countrys were a business the liquadator would have been round years ago to wind them up!

 

If real business people applied real business principals to running the nation then all of the things people hold dear would be done away with right away.........the NHS, Welfare, state ownership, government funding for schemes in local areas because none of it is based on LOGIC !!.........its all based on robbing one section of society to keep another section happy

 

Scotland is a prime example.......they get their own parliment and all of the benefits they get like free university, free prescriptions etc for one reason only....VOTES

 

Labour bought in all these things to keep Scotland RED........there no good reason why Scotland should enjoy anything different from the rest of the union but they do.

 

There no logic in squandering billions of pounds to give one section of the union better rights than others but they do........under business leaders stuff like this would stop because it dont make sense

 

I was in the cafe Saturday and all the local Conservative councillors and MPs were in there, theres one councillor who is responsible for education and business.......he is about 12 by the look of him, was a young conservative activist then went right into being a councillor from college!!!!........what the f**k does he know about anything?........the worst bit is, what morons voted for him?

Something has to change wilf, the system ain't working. I don't know enough about it to hold any serious debate but I know when I see its f****d up. And to vote new fat cats in to get there wee shot of the gravy boat, isn't on my remit.

It was on the news the other morning, that the two world class economists that worked out that austerity is the way to stimulate the economy had got there calculations wrong. some undergraduate in america had tried to duplicate there forecast and couldn`t achieve the same results based on idententical information. it transpired that the spread sheet used was (excel)and they had used the data from 20 countries setup on the spread sheet in 4 rows of 5 however they had failed to include one of the rows. if the row is included then austerity will only make matters worse. now the whole of europe has adopted this flawed model

Well it was always going to slow growth because growth was a lie...I don't know how they can say they had growth for 10 years when the debt was racking up year on year.

 

Its like me transferring money from my credit card in to my bank so it makes me feel richer and then going on a spending spree with it.

and the worst mistake (CRIME?) was using borrowed money to increase the pay levels of every public worker and person on benefits for political gain...they know this is not something that can be cut easily.

 

Think of all the thousands of public sector workers earning a hundred grand a year and then think about the fact those people will all have final salary pensions that WE are going to have to fund through tax...for their paltry 6% contribution they will retire on 40-50 grand a year for the rest of their lives regardless of if the stock marker or economy is doing well. What do you think you would have to contribute to have that? More like 25-30,000 a year!
