deanothehunter 34
I have noticed that all my permission owners all now ask if I am insured but before some years ago they never worried if i were or not, gone are the days where kids would sneak them into the nearest woods and the local copper told them to get it home and next time he'll tell their parents lol....... porkycrook 466
Right, after saying that before going on the permission again I had to have a risk assessment, got an "invite" to go to head office for an informal chat. Well my back-end was gripping cloth I can tell you. What to wear? Didn't want to go suited and booted as the saying goes and didn't want to go camo'd up Rambo style, so chose to go on smart side of casual. Well turned up at Head Office to be met by the man I get permission off, who then went on to introduce me to "the area manager" and "the H&S officer", formalities over and done with. Can I get you a cup of tea, coffee or may even be able to rustle you up a hot chocolate, white coffee with two sugars please. Right Roger we thought we ought to catch up with you and go over a few details came from the area manager, let them do the talking is going through my mind. Jim (my contact with the company) tells us that you are having an affect on the rats and that the complaints from "dick-head over the road" has stopped completely. The permission is in the countryside and apart from him opposite the nearest neighbour is 1/4 mile away, but when the man opposite gets any signs of rats he complains to the company as if the are importing rats. It is never the fact that we are in the countryside. But, oh how I knew that there was going t be a BUT. But Roger we have had some complaints from the work force that goes in and out of the gate. So we thought we would call you in to go over a couple of things with you. Now comes the H&S mans chat, can you talk us through what you do!. I thought it was obvious, I shoot rats I was thinking. I ask if they want me to walk them through what I do when I am on site, Yes please. Well I then go through the details my gun is unloaded and is left in the bag until the last minute, the fact that I shoot away from the highway and parallel to the drive-way, never take a shot or pick up a shot rat if anybody is coming in or out of the compound, blah blah blah. Well it pleased them that I was going to such lengths to keep my actions covert and one day if I was on-site at the same time as them could they have a go with my gun. Yes no problem but you do know its an air-rifle don't you so there will be no loud bangs. Oh yes we know that. So gave them my BASC details and meeting was over, handshakes all-round.
