surely a hole in a roof is bad no matter how big it is. you seem to know so much i am not sure why you are asking in the first place.

An 18ft-lb .177 won't solve your problem with holes in the roof. If you need something for that kind of close range shooting get a sub 12 .22.

Which further goes to show, you no nowt

So does this sway you in any direction GEOF? :D

Hope we havent confused him !

well having owned several air rifles

air ranger 40ftlb

hw90 18ftlb

hw80 16ftlb

hw77 10.5ftlb

s410 32ftlb

and rifles

howa .223

cz 452 17hmr

ruger 10/22

ruger 77/22

and shotguns

beretta a302

beretta silver pigeon 1

Spanish s/s

baikel s/s

beretta a390

if none of these has confused me im sure i can understand the simple working of a .177 air rifle

and still a .22 26ftlb air rifle will do more damage to a building than per say the a .177 11ish ftlb air rifle do you understand this ?????

asking because i would like or hopefully get some good information like yes .177 12ftlb flat head pellet at 25+ yards will not put holes in tin etc etc

but as usual bickering about anything and everything just because everyone think there a expert

#######################################

the only question i asked was what would the drop of a .177 zerod at 35 be at 50yards¿¿¿¿¿

#######################################

i never asked what calibre nor what power to get.

yes i could go onto chairgun and put the details in but i would rather hear of it from whom actually owns and shoots a .177

With the Knowledge gained from owning these guns of varying power, you should have known that switching to a flat head even at 26 ftlb would have sorted your problem with holes in the roof. yet your asking the questions, you dont like the answers, you have had a huge amount of guns, we are all impressed, but you still dont know...Seems the simple workings of air rifles has got you mystified ! !

the only pellets my hw100 would shoot accurately were bisley magnums tried ever pellet available in the UK. as of this it would be pointless shooting a rifle that was giving me 2" groups at 35 yards with any pellet except magnums. i have also previously stated that i have never experienced a .177 and wish to do so.

i very much appreciate the ones that answered the question which i ask / pellet drop etc

i can see wy alot of people have left this forum as the main percentage of user's who reply to posts seem to just want to influence people to there way of thinking, and not reading comments correctly or even at all and replying with a comment off topic. 8:::::::::::::D

i have just sold my hw100 fac .22

as it had its down fall from being to powerful for in barns and sheds etc as is was putting holes in tin after going through bird at 25 - 30 yards.

sooo any way gonna down grade to 12ftlb up to 18ftlb .177 im kinda pushed to getting a spring gun but i do love pcp's and if a hw100 .177 came up i would jump at it.

what what kind of drop will i have say if i zero at 35yards and shot to 50yards ?

Is it off topic geoff, You opened by mentioning your hole in roof problem, and that was discussed along with the hold over of a .177 pellet.

A round about question was asked, so a round about answer was given, BUSTED! :D

BUSTED ¿¿¿¿ can't be busted without evidence of testing with various types of ammo and power.......

as for the use of the word busted which usually deems something broke or unusable the context of the word in your grammar does not make sense unless your using it in the slang term which shows immaturity and bad usage of the English language.

what ranges and pellets have you tested on tin with .177?????

Geoff, I shot a pigeon once inside a barn, It was a straight up shot at 9 to 10 yrds, It went through the pigeons head and the oldish galvonised tin roof, that was 11.6 ftlb. So there are a lot of variables to consider, I doubt it would have gone through at a longer range, but then it would depend on the state of the roof.

On the other hand my fac's have been in barn situations with suitable ammo, and thats where the back stop we were talking about comes in.

As far as busted goes, You stated we were off topic, I then showed you we were not, Its a slang term nothing more, No need to get upset about it.

Wish you all the best in your hunt for your indoor outdoor rifle, But as stated, I would have kept the fac HW100.

a sub 12 ultra will do better groups than "2" groups at 35 yards" in any caliber, and are cheap as chips and well tiny ideal for enclosed spaces.

There you go back on track again, ( but WE were never off it ) Fry is right, a cracking little rifle, Ideal for the job, Though you still may want to consider flat heads if you dont want to put holes in the roof without a back stop.
