Wxm 1,638
Out for a walk this afternoon with the kids and pup and my lad found these eggs in a tree. So I took a quick pic and we moved away but not sure what they are. They are well hidden in the tree about 2 / 3 feet from the ground. They look pretty big not far of the size of a chicken egg :? We'll just keep an eye from a distance see if we can see what visiting the nest

bobcullen79 1,495
Cant see very well, but the lack of down in the nest, and the few number of eggs, rules out a duck I would think, Were the eggs white and quite round? Looks like theres 4-6 eggs there so could be an owl bud. Is it in a rotten tree by the way?
bobcullen79 1,495
Owl eggs are normally white bud, but the darker colour, could be because their due to hatch?
Wxm 1,638
Yeah seems rotten but there seems to be fur around the tree but no carcasses

They have only been there 24 - 48 hour tops as we had a look around the tree yesterday / day before
bobcullen79 1,495
Have to keep an eye on it bud, fresh blue eggs suggests a duck, but the lack of a feathered nest says different. How many eggs are there, is 4+ eggs not a lot for a bird to fire out in 48 hrs? Interesting though, I`ll have to keep an eye on this thread. Some times its hard to say without seeing the bird..
