low plains drifter 10,363
I bred a litter 8 years ago,and removed the dew claws, but they just kept regrowing, the sire still has his, dont know if this is a common thing,I did ask an old racing dog trainer, and he knew of it happening, luckily I've had no problems with themif you don't cut them back far enough they will grow back I could'nt have cut them any further back, everyday there was a bit more regrowth so I kept nipping them back until about the 10th day, then the pups were showing some pain so I never tried again, they were born at the start of the last good summer that we had,and I put their rapid growth down to endless hours of sunshine, and plenty good food, even the dews refused to stop growing Quote Link to post

Sirius 1,391
My last two dogs have them and have caused no problem, but I have been lucky and trim them back ever other week. Out of choice I would have them off. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
its takes minutes to take them off the whole litter at 2/3 days old. I have no idea why people leave them on, its pointless ! Quote Link to post
