baw 4,360
I'd rather run a dog there than a rock hard golf course, but I don't think I understand the question. Are we worried about tuffs of grass? Quote Link to post
Fretwell 59 15
No I was asking about catch rate and the ground they run on And the dogs you run on it Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
No I was asking about catch rate and the ground they run on And the dogs you run on it Catch rate will depend on a dogs ability to adapt to the ground, my old bitch will anticipate a lot of runs on some "blind" runs when she only see's the rabbit get up. This can lead to the dog sometimes looking silly but a dog that can adapt will put a few away. 1 Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
gotta hunt where the quarry is, the dog will adapt with a little practise although accidents will be inevitable, most of my ground is fairly rough 1 Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
As long as the dog can keep the rabbit in sight it would have the advantage,Especially once it turns a rabbit of its run. 1 Quote Link to post
BIGLURKS 874
The type of ground depends on the dog u run too how good ur dog is too ur catch ratio and a lot of the country varies we have dairy land arable land too sheep land and forestry blocks too golf courses all within 10 miles of my house so more then just land affects ur catch ratio http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g461/royvin99/48015471-712D-402E-AD07-AEA85F3502EE-6371-0000093AD967B353.mp4 Quote Link to post

A good strong 24 tts dog will handle most stuff, most dogs of any size will struggle with big bucks, these all rounders ain't as prelevant as people like to think. Quote Link to post

On rabbit, hare and fox I'd agree with you but for bigger quarry too......... I'd say a big dog can stop small quarry easier than a medium sized dog could stop bigger stuff. Quote Link to post
