Shaunh 0
Hi everyone I'm new to this site and would like to say hello! I have just got my hands on a BSA scorpion t10 eight months old. My issue is that it seems to fill from the dive bottle I have but after some fills has less pressure? I have never had a pcp before just a trusty old springer which I'm now selling! Guy I bought it from has been really good and I have just replaced the pellet probe too which seemed to help. I took it down to the farm I shoot on and zeroed it out to 30 metres, refilled it up to 190 which is what I've read is the ideal pressure and went for a walk. Alas no rabbits as the farmer was out in the field working! Once I finished the circuit I thought I'd spend a couple of minutes testing the distance and zero. It dropped all the shots I had previously made, does anyone have any ideas as I'm stump and so is the previous owner? I'm in Somerset if there is anyone local who service it if that's what it needs I'd be grateful for the steer. Shaun Quote Link to post
EVO HUNTSMAN 13
sounds like you have a seal problem, get all the seals replaced and it should be job done, or fill it to 190 and leave it overnight and see if the pressure has dropped Quote Link to post
Shaunh 0
Thanks I thought it might be that but it didn't explain why it's been firing ok over the last couple of days? I'll leave it over night tonight and see tomorrow. I've got the seals just need to find someone local to fit them? Quote Link to post
the big chief 3,099
same as above to be honest let it sit with a full charge if the pressure has gone in the morning whip it round ya local gun smith they should sort it out for ya Quote Link to post
Shaunh 0
Thanks for the advice, I'll top it up and let it sit tonight. Will replacing them be an expensive job, as I might be able to get the guy I bought it off to foot the bill if it is? Quote Link to post
the big chief 3,099
Seels shouldn't be that expensive its the work you pay for price them up on bsa website should give you an idea Quote Link to post
smoothfinish 26
Hi Shaunh And welcome to TheHuntingLife. Iv had a BSA T1O and did have a issue with a air leak only 2 weeks after buying from my local shooting shop they are a very good looking bit of kit for the price range. Have you been out shooting in the rain? or has the rifle had water on it ? my leak was caused by a unbelievably small bit of rush on the main seal as a little bit of water had got in there and dryed to cause the speck of rush i tuck the rifle back 4 times in 2 weeks before the gunsmith found the rush hope you get it sorted all the best Quote Link to post
Shaunh 0
I only got it a couple of weeks ago and the previous owner said he never shot outside as he didn't have shooting access any where. It was up to what I would have thought was full pressure for a couple of days after I got an air tank. Initially it wasn't great, after about 50 shots zeroing today whilst it was great, I refilled it ready to get a few rabbits. Once I got to the end I tried a few shots and all were under power! I can't understand why it was great and then not again? But thanks for the advice. Quote Link to post
Matt Cottrell 23
Are you sure you are filling it correct mate I know it a stupid question but could be a simple thing like that hope u get it sorted mate Quote Link to post
Shaunh 0
Hi all just got the gun back from a local gunsmith called Richard Large. The nylon part of the valve was jammed and a couple of the seals were on their way out too. He has returned it to me completely serviced and up to the maximum just sub 12FT Lbs and I have to say it is what I expected it to be. He tested it and it now gives 75 shots per fill at 190 bar, I can't recommend him enough as he is one of the few gunsmiths to also work on PCP and air rifles. Cost was £60 all in, and I now have confidence in hitting those rabbits, the cometa may stay for a friend to use? Thanks for all the help and advice. Shaun Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
Good news mate. That's the drawbacks of buying secondhand. Would the seller not foot half the bill for you?? Darryl Quote Link to post
Matt Cottrell 23
Glad you'd sorted mate Quote Link to post
Shaunh 0
He was all good for it until I took it to a gunsmith, but I can't fault it now. Blooded it this afternoon! Quote Link to post
PLEDGEY 495
If you Google Somerset Gun Accessories you'll see the SGA site. Bloke who runs it is called Steve. He's very knowledgeable and I think he fits seals. If not I'm sure he could tell you who does. Quote Link to post
