huntingladjohn 14
my local butcher usually gives £1 for just gutting the bunny its so he can tell how fresh and good the bunny is. but for me he gives me 1.50 for then because hes a friend of the family in my opinion i wouldnt go through all the hassle of skinning and gutting for a £1.... if im not going to eat it my self i wont skin them Quote Link to post
moxy 617
£1 a bunny with puddings out is about the going rate to a game dealer. £2 - 2.50 for a bunny with puds out and clothes off to a butcher. The butchers sell them up my way for around £4.70 plus. It's ok the butcher offering you his price but make sure you negotiate and hold out for a fair price for yourself. A butcher I sell to demanded too much. FFS he wanted them fully dressing for very little money, until we had words. Your doing the hard work. And getting rid of all the crap provided you are giving un bruised and good meat. With a skinned and gutted rabbit. Quote Link to post

Nice one. A thing you have to take into consideration is that most butchers only sell the saddle of the rabbit. They complain about bruised ribs, but these get discarded as all the useable meat is in the back end and along the back. Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
I get 1.50 for a small one and £2 for a big one, I'm expected to gut and skin them but if I have a few I'll claim I didn't have enough time for them all haha and he still pays. The butchers around here claim there's a bit of a shortage for rabbit so all are keen. If it's the same next season I'll try and get a bit of a bidding war on hehe Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
Best Ive been offered is £1 per rabbit skinned and gutted which didn't interest me for the amount of work involved. Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
None of the butchers in my town will not touch them, because of health rules, one butcher told me if he got a visit and found a rabbit or feather in his back shop, he would be closed down. ive tried them all, but with the same answer, not bothered as not in for big numbers, they get fed raw to the dog and ferts.
