northern lad 2,292
As above, looking for a motor in the near future and leaning towards Nissan Navara/Mitsubishi L200....open to other suggestions though.Due to the wifes arthritis she cant get in/out of the Peugot anymore ,so we need something a bit higher from the ground to make it easier for her to get in,and able to take her wheelchair etc in the boot, clueless on cars so would appreciate your input.Reliability is probably the next factor after the aforesaid, fuel economy not a massive issue as we don't do a lot of miles, the 4x4 aspect is not essential, permissions all easily accessible and will rarely go off road ,an estate would do if it was higher from the ground, grateful for some input oh aye budget £4 to 5,000 Thanks Dave
walshie 2,804
If reliablility is an issue, sad to say something Japanese would probably be the most reliable. There are some smaller 4x4s about like the Nissan Qashquai, and I believe some are 4x4 and others aren't. Honda CRV another choice. I would add I have had neither of these personally, but my mates have and they have been fine.

Bit on the small side Walshie, forgot to add ,Im allowed to work 12hrs a week so need to be able to get my tools/materials in it aswell we got a Motobility car,a Kia Sportage, very nice, sold our car to pay a deposit on it and used the remaining money to buy an orthapedic couch and a few other things to make the wifes life easier,on picking up the car the dealer passed us the insurance documents in the wifes name only (she is no longer able to drive, they were fully aware of this,I explained we couldn't take the car as I wouldn't drive it uninsured, the dealer urged the wife to "have a go"at getting it home(20 miles )when we refused they put me on kia fleet insurance for a week and said to ring Mobility the day after and add me to the policy,so away we went.On ringing them in the morning they refused to insure me as I have an IN10 penalty on my license ,we offered to pay any extra expense but it was refused the dealer was in full knowledge of this and should have said from the outset The IN10 was for driving without insurance (unknown to me the direct debit for 20 odd£ had bounced 4 days earlier as I had forgot to move some cash to the relevant account and the policy had been cancelled down,my fault totally I know, thank god I didn't hurt somebody in an accident ,the judge accepted all this ,Ive been driving 20+years without even a speeding fine, the fine was small, but the points were a must ,anyway we sent the car back and got a refund and are now saving for a motor, thanks for the input
