Fieldsports 155
Hi does anyone use one of these for hunting footage i wanna film some little videos i like the look of these small compact cams. Or can someone point me in the right direction?? To be honest I have owned and tried dozens of camcorders from ultra small helmet cams to pro broadcast quality. Out of experience it seems to be compact stuff produces poor quality footage, I have just bought a full HD compact camcorder and tried it for hunting shots, I have wasted my time and scrapped the footage to get results on hunting footage suitable for todays viewer you need to go pro broadcast quality something that has 3ccd or better. Compact stuff is OK for to film the family at the parties and such like but they are very limited to use for hunting. I am currently in the very same position and going to have to buy something suitable for the job. Thats my opinion but then again I am hard to please when it comes to quality of footage. Thanks Steve Quote Link to post
WoodsmanJim 160
Seen a few shotgun vids on youtube filmed on a GroPro. They are great little things, my mate has one a turns out some cracking "in-the-action" footage. For hunting though, I'd have thought they were a bit limited. Not knowing exactly where they're pointed until you get home and view the footage is fine for some stuff (mountain biking, skiing, shotgunning etc.) but for air rifle hunting it's helpful to see what your filming and to be able to zoom in on whatever your shooting (gun shooting and camera shooting) so viewers can make out what's on the film. I see a lot of hunting vids where you don't see the quarry till it moves upon being shot and you kind of lose the 'feel' of the hunt. Just my two pence. Jim Quote Link to post
sibaldib 6
Jim is spot on. My two sons use their Go Pro 3s for enduro riding and kite surfing respectively. They are excellent for the wide angle shots required. However put them on a shotgun or rifle and the wide angle lens is the opposite of what you need. Would suggest you look at alternatives if it is just for shooting. Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
I just got a Panasonic V700 not so long ago and it's a cracking little camera, ideal for shooting forays and is what we use on GeordiehuntersTV, our YouTube channel Darryl Quote Link to post

Stuart1985 256
I use a contour roam 2 for my shotgun shooting!!! I love it really well made and great for mounting on anything. Check them out. Haven't and will not use it for air rifle shooting. Quote Link to post
