scissorman 13
Hi A couple of weeks ago I bought a pre owned HW100 and it really is the dogs b******s. Only problem is the previous owner had allowed a build up of what seems like hard wax or synthetic oil on the trigger guard, cocking leaver and the piece that holds the cylinder and barrel (sorry cant remember what its called). I had tried lots of different things to clean and nothing would shift it. In a last attempt I turned to the car cleaning gear, started with the trigger guard a quick wipe over with TAR REMOVER and hey presto all gone, along with most of the bluing. Any ideas how to sort this would be much appreciated Cheers Anthony Quote Link to post
reecemurg 21
get rid of all the blueing and do it all again i recon but i may be wrong Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
or buy a new trigger guard if you cant reblue it yourself.. did you wipe it anywhere else or just the trigger guard? Quote Link to post

shootlodge 145
clean it all off. Get 2 fire bricks on a stone base , like an inverted 'V' & a paint strpping gas blow torch. put your trigger guard in the 'v' heat it all up evenly, until it discolours blue to black,evenly...... before red, & with some pliers pick it up & quickly drop it in some dirty old used engine oil, whilst hot. Once its cooled, take it out & wipe it over with a rag. There ya go , permanently blue. Quote Link to post

You do know the hw's trigger guard is alloy ? atb phil Quote Link to post

scissorman 13
Clean it til it gleams and call it 'custom'! Hi Thanks very much !! I like the sound of that. I have nothing to loose and if it dosent work I will have to sort a full guard rather that half. Will defo have go next weekend and post a picture of the result either way. Anthony Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
Alternatively, degrease it and clean it throughly then give it a quick spray with black car paint followed by a couple of coats of lacquer. 1 Quote Link to post
hunter100t 56
Now thats a novel idea wurz, if its good enough for cars.... atb phil Quote Link to post
-Lupo- 4
What I know, the Trigger Guard from the HWs isn´t blued. Its not made of steel. This is some kind of coating. Just spray it with filler, and then with black coat. It´s exactly that, what the guys in Mellrichstadt (HW Factory) do. Quote Link to post
