the pikey poacher 1,157 Posted May 6, 2013 Author Report Share Posted May 6, 2013 down to ten so pead off the keeper phoned me to take him a heat lamp over as his rottie x pressa canario pups had just been born so went over to him only stayed just over an hour when i got back went up to check on mouse and she had lay on the little runt that i intended to keep for myself i had spent all day making sure it was suckling every hour i was up there checking on it and fook me i pop out for an hour and when i get back its flat always the way for me not choosing another till there eating and drinking by themselves atb pp Quote Link to post

I've a theory on why a true runt, not just a smaller pup, is the runt: to me they seem premature when they're born, so maybe the egg didn't implant into the uterus until later than the other pups. The other theory is that there is only so much room in the uterus, so the runt got stuck between two more vigorous embryos and didn't develop as well as the rest. Who knows.
