Madcowz 0
This is bad news indeed, we are very close to Guildford and our house and the others in our close all belong to the local estate/farm. And yes, they have 3 big herds of dairy cattle. If this goes the same way as last time, 3 - 4 people out of the 8 houses will probably be out of a job. Interesting note: One of the other neighbours sons works in Defra and I asked him last week how work was, and he said very busy as they were just about to start a practice foot and mouth outbreak scenario, but this time be 2 weeks into the outbreak. Mad

Guest baldie
Wrong order , young Un, you drink 13 pints of lager [stella is best] then start a fight in the takeaway, whilst waiting for a curry.
wunwin 0
Lets hope the govt get on top of this, and soon. Heard a minister on the radio this morning, didnt even know what a cloven hoofed animal was, bit of a worry, eh? Down south have a lot of wild boar dont they?, and they will spread it quicker than anything. Perhaps the antis will regret relaesing all the boar when they see thousands of cattle and sheep killed? On the other level, while farmers will loose out, they ultimately get some compensation. I was working on a farm during the last outbreak. My hours were cut, my money was cut, i went seriously overdrawn, and got no compo at all. I rang the NFU, and was told to claim tax credit or some other benifits, which i didnt qualify for. Went back to them and was treated like lowley scum. So as well as worrying about the farmers, lets also worry about the lads that do the work, and wont get no help. Chaz 6
FCUK FCUK FCUK This really is the last thing British Agriculture needs at the minute , the pressure on farmers and allied industries the last couple of years has been terrible and this will be the nail in the coffin of a lot more farms if it is found in more herds, So please be sensible people where you go wandering as this disease is easily spread and devastating when it reaches anywhere , think of the future of the British countryside and not just your own sport

T.F.Student 0
It said on the TV this morning that the farm fattens up stock for beef production. So i guess this means they get stock from elsewhere fatten it and then sell it. Thing is, in this day and age elsewhere could be Anywhere!!!
Guest MOLLY
Thing is, in this day and age elsewhere could be Anywhere!!! They should know exactly where they got it from T.F. Since the last outbreak all stock now have (I think its called a passport) they have to be accounted for at every stage of their lives till death. A real headache for the farmers but put in place to prevent the same carnage as last time. MOLL.

T.F.Student 0
What i was implying was that the men from the ministry could be turning up in any part of the country and whats happened in Surrey will happen there exclusion zones etc.
