foot and mouth

Just spoke with my farmer. He reckens the cattle may have been brought in from Argentina. Supposedly we are one of the only countries who still import cattle/meat from there knowing the country has foot and mouth. The foot and mouth virus can be found in the meat, it does not need to be a living animal

THIS goverment does'nt want farmers they do their damndest to make it hard for them to survive they prefer house on the land and then just import the meat from europe, i sometimes wonder if goverments have a hand in incidents like this.

Cattle have to have passports to go for slaughter, if they dont then they will be refused. Just got back from work now, we've been layed off until ban on transporting cattle has been lifted, just what i needed  . The lads who have been at the slaughterhouse for a while think this could see the end of the company. Chances are ill be looking for a new job soon. Joe

f*****g hell mate, that's a kick in the bollocks, hope you find something new very soon.

If the disease has come from an infected country then that's criminally irresponsible, thought we did the Argies once, is this their way of getting back at us? :censored:

here in guildford it is a bit too quiet the farm in question is on a minor rd that joins the A3 this rd is closed and they are disinfecting the rd the cattle are going to be culled on site and TRANSPORTED somewhere else to dispose of the carcases even though there have been calls to burn the animals on site !! as for me we cant move any of the livestock at the moment but this i understand as it only 4 miles from my yard and six from my house the farm its self is in quarantine with a 3km exclusion zone but otherwise the countryside is open ! they have band the export of all animals across the country and they are investigating further possible cases

It was on the news that there are 2 possible causes..1) Imported meat. 2) There is a scientific research lab within a couple of miles, which do have F&M infected cattle for research. But it is still just speculation.
