Who the fcuk wants to be working class, if you enjoy living in a shit hole surounded by idiots and ner do wells then fine, if not, then get your finger out and rise above it, you only get back what you put in, it takes effort and comitment to work your way up from what you call working class, if working class still exists, to middle class, its called starting your own business, the upshot is your wallowing in profits, and create the much needed jobs that you say the country lacks, so put or shut up, the choice is yours.

Bet your popular in South Yorkshire........

Why blame the government for your lot in life or even those who have taken the time to study and open the horizon a bit more to better opportunities?   I agree they put up a few barriers, nothing to

By "proper riots" I suppose you mean far more forceful than the last ones?   Where more police and innocent residents are injured?   Where more random people lose their property and livelihood?

It's not 'wanting something for nothing' to expect to be governed with some honesty and integrity, or to hope for some meaningful, quality employment for your kid's. 1500 applicants for a job in st

There is no such thing as a proper riot. A riot is a riot is a riot.

My neice was trapped in the street where she lived in London because of the riots going on around her. Had she being injured because of that specific riot or a riot staffed by innocent people who can't afford the "stupidly high bills" etc would not legitimize those actions.

The perpetrators would still be scum in my eyes.

Alot of innocent people would suffer possibly losing their lives.

Emergency services resources would be diverted thus putting innocent lives at risk both of the services personnel and of civilians entitled to care and assistance.

If you feel so strongly about it why don't you start a movement protesting about such issues starting with holding it outside the local MPs offices. This would surely get you noticed locally to start with then canvass local radio/tv stations and other media outlets.

I am of the opinion that your thinking is flawed which is reinforced by the replies you have received on this thread.

I also can't understand how you can accuse other posters of bullying and the replies so far I can't see upsetting somebody with a thin skin.

One last point, a lot of people in your "PROPER RIOT" wouldn't have to worry about bills as I am aware that full bed and board is supplied by HM Prison Service fully complimentary.

yeh coz that worked for the ban on hunting,i'm in no way advocating riots but waving banners &

marching achieves nowt as was proved in london with 400,000 marching

Then the OP should go down the political route and put himself forward for representation. While the country isn't an ideal place its in a better state than Greece where riots haven't helped at all.

We have an inept, out of touch and arrogant government just like the previous one. I have never voted so I can't complain to much but I will be registering and voting UKIP as they come across as the only party willing to tackle issues that contradict Brussels.

"If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem"

Not aimed at anyone in particular but people like myself who don't vote which is why I will register to vote.

Why blame the government for your lot in life or even those who have taken the time to study and open the horizon a bit more to better opportunities?

I agree they put up a few barriers, nothing to inconvencing but essentially the only thing stopping someone from achieving something is themself, it just boils donw to "how much do you want it?"

If you have a back up plan in case stuff goes breasts skywards then you should be ok regardless of what the government comes up with. If you think your jo is always going to be there then you are a fool for thinking so and if you don't do anything to keep things moving along in your favour then you are an even bigger fool.

Blaming officials or even people who live in a btetr house or drive a nicer car is just a cry of "I'm owed something from this life!" and you clearly aren't, nobody is. Anybody can go from "Havin git all" to not having a pot to piss in but it takes a somebody to rise up the scale. Ask yourself "Am I an anybody or a somebody?" If you're an anybody then tough, unfotunately but quit whinging about it. If you are a somebody then you are already out there seeking opportunities that can provide you with an advantage, getting down the local college to find out what free courses they run, speaking to a career advisor, researching what roles would suit the lifestyle you want, working out what gaps there are in your skillset and then filling those gaps in. It's not hard if you are willing to put the work in.

Politicians, no matter how much they talk bollocks to you just before they want and need your vote to provide them with a better life are really only after one thing, their better life. The same goes for you. You want the better life then you're going to have to get out there, tread on some toes and take a bit of shit with it.

That has got to be the single best post ive seen on here in a long time...............and certainly the best one on these recent politics debates lately...........

Standing ovation to you there sir !.......................... Rely on nobody but yourself and you will have nobody to cry to but yourself = Clean conscience !

Agreed very good post...

I'm a firm believer in you get out of life what you put in, you can blame everyone and everything but eventually it's all down to you...

I've read all these political threads recently, but as I know very little about politics I'll read and say nothing, my only observation would be it seems what ever government has been in charge they've upset someone/ group of people, we're all different in beliefs, goals, upbringing.. whatever, a policy that suits some wont others I suppose... Surely there can be no one party that can be right for everyone?????

So it kind of swings back to you, making the best of it no matter who's in charge... Maybe that's my naivety in politics, but I don't think anyone in number 10 has given me anything, I've worked like fck for it...

As for worrying about your kids mate (to the op), I think no matter what you'll always do that, as did your parents and there parents it's natural.... Seems like yours are doing well for themselves though..fair play to them

Im glad lifes worked out for you,and you have a comfortable lifestyle :yes: I got fed up doing a shit job for shit money, went to college did my electrical quals and got a better job....I wasn't happy with the job even though it was very well paid I decided to go back to my trade (ceramic tiler) I steadily built the business up over years and had apprentices, put them through college and ensured they were financially sound (above and beyond wages, car loans ,house deposits etc) in 2006 the country was flooded with European builders, working for peanuts and taking all the work due to there low prices.I found myself with a choice to make.....employ them or face going under...I chose the latter....and lost EVERYTHING....does this entitle me to destroy what others have built....NO...am I pissed off , VERY .ALL my choice and I live with the consequences,a riot will change none of the above...

There are far more working class people than middle and upper class put together,so how has it not been possible to get a goverment that represents the majority?.Its my kids who i despair for,my two lads are in the forces and both have been threatened with redundancy. My two daughters are in university one learning to be a social worker and the other studying to be a school teacher.I know of university graduates that cant get a job and have to work behind a bar,or do telesales,or even both.Thats not their fault they would love to do the job that they went to 6th form for, then 4 years at university or 7 for a masters and for what?.

I hate to be the one to burst the bubble here but so what if your children have degrees, if there aren't the jobs available for their chosen career then there aren't any jobs but there isn't anything to stop them using a bit of that well trained grey matter and creating a job or just taking a step sideways.

Let's have a look at what they are studying:

Social Worker: This is an easy one.

Probation Officer.

Prison Advisor

Youth Offending Officer

Learning Disability Support Officer

Child/Adult care worker

These are just of the top of my bonce but there is a whole range if you do a search (took 3seconds)

Job options

Jobs directly related to your degree include:

Many social workers are employed by local authority children's or adult services undertaking statutory work (required by government legislation).

Local authority roles in children's teams include family support work, child protection, working with looked-after children (foster care), adoption and school attendance (education social worker). In adult teams, opportunities include mental health and substance misuse work.

Social workers also work with the elderly, those with physical or learning disabilities, in residential and day-care facilities, in criminal justice work, housing and community projects and with the homeless. It is possible to work your way up into management positions, such as safeguarding or care manager. For the range of job opportunities, see the British Association of Social Workers .

In Northern Ireland, a social work degree is required to become a probation officer.

The practical skills and work experience gained on a social work degree are also relevant to a range of other social care and advice roles:

You may need further training/qualifications or specific work experience with children or older people for some of these jobs.

Remember that many employers accept applications from graduates with any degree subject, so don't restrict your thinking to the jobs listed here.

That daughter is pretty safe when it comes to different paths.

Teacher: Specialised but not limited.

Support Worker.

Training Delivery - both public and private sector.

Another 3 second search:

Jobs directly related to your degree
  • Primary school teacher - teaches a range of subjects to a class of pupils from the age range 4 -11 years and may have responsibility for delivering a particular subject across the school (e.g. music).
  • Secondary school teacher - teaches one or more national curriculum subjects to classes of pupils aged 11-16 or 11-18.
  • Early years teacher - fosters and develops the abilities, social skills and understanding of children aged three to five years, focusing on optimum child development and preparation for a successful transition to primary school education.
  • Special educational needs teacher - teaches children with emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties at one or more stages in the SEN Code of Practice. They are also involved in identifying all levels of need.
  • Further education lecturer - usually teaches a specific subject to students over 16 but increasingly to 14-19 year olds.
  • Adult education lecturer - teaches specific subject areas to adults either within educational settings, in the community and increasingly through distance/remote learning
  • Community education officer - works to promote and facilitate access to a wide range of voluntary educational activities by all members of the community, regardless of age.
  • Youth worker - supports and encourages young people to become involved in local ‘informal’ educational activities.
  • Education administrator - organises and oversees administrative activities and systems that support and facilitate the smooth running of an education institution. The majority are based in higher or further education, but opportunities are increasingly available in schools and private colleges.
Jobs where your degree would be useful
  • Learning mentor - provides a complementary service to teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.
  • Careers adviser - provides information, advice and guidance (IAG) inside and outside education. Advisers are employed to ensure that people (especially young people aged 13-19) achieve their full potential.
  • Museum education officer - a museum education officer is responsible for realising the potential of the museum collections as learning resources and developing learning opportunities.
  • Social worker - often works with people experiencing crisis or people who are socially excluded with the aim of providing support to enable service users to help themselves. Social workers maintain professional relationships with service users, acting as a guide, advocate or as a critical friend.
  • Training and development officer - manages the learning of an organisation's workforce, delivering training sessions to participants or, in a more senior role, devises a training strategy for the organisation.

NOw, just because you have a degree doesn't mean you are GUARANTEED a job, it is merely a string to your bow that the other folk applying might not have. What is wrong with working in a bar, a shop, a supermarket or wherever just because you have a degree? You are at least working and have work history with a wwork record, references and shows a willigness to work as well as gaining skills and being able to transfer these to your new role.

I used to be a barman, before that I worked in McDonalds, was a labourer and then spent all day just photocopying stuff. I'm now a senior IP Network Engineer specialising in wide area networks that cover the UK. I never went to University I just saved up and did courses for where I saw potential growth. I became stagnant in my current role so I saved up again and became qualified in a trade so I will always have a job for life (MOD lads were doing the same course too who got made redundant ;)) so I do my main job during the day and I do my trade on an evening and weekend or if it's a big job I take annual leave (double pay, bonus!). Am I doing my dream job? Not at all because there aren't any jobs going in that area. Am I doing my second choice job? No. I've got loads of qualifications from all manner of things that will stand me in good stead of finding a job in loads of different roles and the vast majority of skills transfer regardless.

A degree is a tool, not a guarantee.

How do you equate living in a shit hole, surrounded by idiots and ner do wells as being working class :hmm:

Because this is the impression the whingers give, run down estates due to lack of goverment backing when in fact its the ner do wells that drag them down, and no amount of backing will regenrate them, only the people that drag them down can regenerate them, people that are in employment and doing well dont want to be called working class, and why should they, the reason their driven to put the extra effort in is to leave that part of their life behind and do better for them selves and their kids, not moping around on run down estates, the reason we have run down estates is because its the only place to dump the ner do wells, some people find them selves on these estates through no fault of their own, but generally work their way up and away from them in time, the others that dont should get of their arses and do something about the enviroment they live in,after all, its an environment they have a large stake in.

just look at this thread ...a year ago maybe even 8 months ago you wouldnt have really seen a thread like this on a hunting site so no i dont think your . in the minority...infact its starting to look even more that way of thinking is the majority... just look at the maggie incident the boston bomb the other day and now the shooting today in boston...and all the time ITV and the British Brainwashing Corporation are giving very biased and un real opinions of these countries real views... ok some people did see maggie as ok...but beleive me it was a very very small minority but that seemed to be the only people they interviewed... the MPs all on telling complete lies and whoppers about her and their twisted version of history were maggie done good work... the boston bomb the other day, they failed to tell you that all morning there was sniffer dogs cops fbi navy seals all dressed the same... caps black jackets black rucksacks the lot not to mention all morning at the starting line the police were shouting through bullhorns for the crowd not to panic it was just a "DRILL" ... then they wouldnt answer questions at the immediate press conference straigh after it..... i think your riots last year too were psy ops... i mean they may have been genuinely started and rightly so if i remember the police shot an unarmed kid for no reason at all! but i then think mi5 or 6 were sent in dressed as rioters to start the looting and the real damage.... What the UK..Ireland ..the U.S. and every1 else has to do is get our heads out our asses and think for ourselves and look at facts...not what any of these shitty news PROGRAMMES are telling us...then once you find out the facts then every person rich and poor would have to stand together in peaceful protest and oust the tyrants in power..... and do it ill say it again PEACEFULLY...

they want riots they want chaos they want the place buring down round them so they can kill more and make up more laws.... think about it police now a days would not know what was going on if it really was peaceful...NO COMPLIANCE but PEACEFULLY....
