Matt Cottrell 23 Posted April 18, 2013 Report Share Posted April 18, 2013 Hi every one I'm new on here I shoot air rifles for Cyril's rats rabbit ect an have my shot gun licence I want to get in to deer stalking I have the land all ready it's we're I shoot most of the time farmer have given me the rights to shoot the deer for sorting his vermin problems out for the last 4 years I should get my fire arms ok as got no police records or Health prob an have my shotgun all ready I'm just not sure of cal I'm thinking .243 as good all rounder or do I go .270 any help an tips I'd be grateful The land has already been rated to .270 cal Many thanks matt Quote Link to post
sussex 5,777 Posted April 19, 2013 Report Share Posted April 19, 2013 Depending what species of deer do you have Mat ,.fallow roe , muntjac , cwd .a 243 will do the job perfectly well .Reds & sika I prefer something bigger ,but many people use 243 on all of them with no problem at all . good luck with it 1 Quote Link to post

roe-buck 63 Posted April 20, 2013 Report Share Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) Hmm seems like good compromise with the .243,although the Fallow Bucks in the Rut can get huge necks on them alot prefer the .308 for that.Gecko do a good 110gn round for .243, that should put anything down!
