BazB 37
hi i'm building a kennel soon for my dog, i'm going to put drainage in and make it a concrete floor sloped towards the drain. but im worried about the smell soaking into the concrete. i've seen a product called reno seal, that's used for kennel floors to seal them in, it comes in 20 lt drums and does sq metres but its 165 quid a drum!!!. has anybody used this product and is it worth it? what have other people used to stop the urine soaking in? atb Baz
04fox8 168
No expert, but I'd say if you keep it washed out, it shouldn't be a problem. Used to use jeyes fluid all the time for hen houses years ago. How about painting the floor? Also heard of people applying PVA Glue with cement / paint. Personally, I'd justy keep it well hosed out. Just about to be building a kennel / run myself, so I'll be keeping an eye out for the other replies you get.

gnasher16 30,121
If you have good air circulation theres no reason to get fancy chemicals.......that sort of stuff will be for kennel blocks where air circulation is poor...........as has been said bit of disinfectant and good regular cleaning you shouldnt see a problem. Zerky 133
The floor in mine is running back from the gates into a drain in the back, I then tiled mine, just cheap ones from b&q. Hose them down then just run a squeegee mop over then to get any standing water off takes a couple of mins.

gonetoearth 5,144
Concrete is pourous. Pour water on it . It will absoube it but only to a small degree. Yes you can apply admixes at constrution stage Sika 4a. Etc. but. That for. Kennel runs. For a couple of dogs is not nessacary. A good troweld finish and regular hoseing down will surfice. Evey time i see dog shite i pick it up and throw a bucket of water. Across the floor and brush into drains. Let piss and shite. Lay. It will absorb into the. Surface. So just keep it clean. Diluted battles black twice a week all other times clean water.

I had tiles for 10 years, after a while they smelt like fuk.id never again have them.i had a bonding agent mixed with the concrete,The stuff just flows out the gate simple.squeege the floor and all done in less than 30 minutes.
