As most modern greyhounds appear to have been bred for speed around a track rather than ability in the field it would seem to me to make more sense to use a fen bred lurcher, which will have the advan

IMO the answer to the posters question is "It depends if your saluki is fast enough".     Today i don't believe we need any addition of greyhound blood to the coursing gene pool. There's plenty eno

i wouldnt mind a bit of "master mcgrath", or "fullerton" blood but those days are long gone, sam the man might have been something to think about, a few years back,   although i wouldnt put one of t

I see dogs do the job then give an opinion. I have three in my kennel at the minute two will take thier fair share on the fens and on smaller land the other will be a journey man she will have to work hard for what she takes, I will say that a lot of the talked about x,s at the minute the only one I would class as proven is JM,s Lucas and the only proven Saluki running consistently up to date is T B,s Sonny. but this coming season I know of at least 5 pures that should make the grade

i see dogs do the job then give my opinion.........then you go on to say you only seen lucas run on utube .

regarding pure salukis and pure greyhounds only

do you think the quality of either of these purebred dogs is as good "TODAY" as it was before the ban, when either of these pure breeds could be ran on hares legally and regularly either privately or with clubs or in coursing competitions,

I have only heard about lucas and seen bits on video I have seen Sonny run sunny is about a year younger than Lucas I would go for Sonny . I know lucas is near 6 now and had a toe or two off think his best days are behind him.

i think lucas is nearly 5 year old so plenty left in him yet.

My opinion pure saluki pre ban were better because more selectively bred as soon as the ones wanting a quick pound got on the trail the quality of litters bred went down as is visible with the price of the salukis being shoved on the conveyors now dont know about other pure stuff like greys and deers etc

ive seen sonny run hes decent for a saluki nothing to brag about. all talk about salukis how many do you no that were as good as wilburs star,nelly.fred. they were proper salukis catching 3s/4s most weeks in dead of winter, i was out with wilbur not so long ago and had a chat about them and they were special dogs for pures. and you will never see likes of them again.
