paulus 26
ive edited your post, why not just ask what people feed and use as bedding infact do a search in the search bar and everything you will ever want to know will already be on here somewhere Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
Raw meat during the colder months...beef, rabbit, fish etc and dry ferret food during the summer months to prevent flies. Feeding saps, cat food etc is a thing of the past as they don't have the correct make up for ferrets so it's best to feed the proper foods. For bedding i have small fleece blankets and shavings in their toilet area 1 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
Dry cat biscuits. Tinned cat meat. Whole fresh rabbit. Chicken carcass. Tripe. Bedding shredded paper. We have got a cross shredder at work and it produces small 2" strips of paper. Perfect free bedding. Easy to clean out. Absorbent. Warm. Quote Link to post
Rob Greenhill 2
veriaty of raw meats e.g. pigeons, rabbits, pheasants(in season) and corvids but not so much in the hot weather. during summer james wellbeloved ferret seems to keep them in good nick. for bedding shavings through out the floor of the hutches and shredded paper of the nesting areas. Country Joe 1,411
Its not rocket science Winter Months and early Spring, where there are no Flies about, Feed Rabbit, Summertime feed complete, or rabbit pieces put in at night, then taken out in morning, to stop fly blown. Cold Winter Weather, straw, warmer weather shavings. These subjects have been brought up many times, maybe better doing a search first. Edited April 18, 2013 by Country Joe Quote Link to post

Except i dont like straw or any other hollow stem plant to use as bedding unless its been treated there might be bugs in the stems Quote Link to post

Cat products are for cats not ferrets, if you can't feed meat get a ferret kibble, ferrets have a very fast digestion so cat biscuits and cat food give them very little nutrition. 1 Quote Link to post

If they are doubled up, or more, shavings is enough, as they get heat from each other, Quote Link to post

I feed meat 90% of the time and always leave a bowl of dry cat biscuits for them to graze on. I've done it for years and never had any problems. Cat meat is just meat in jelly. I feed this a couple of times a week and they love it. Quote Link to post

Ferret kibble is widely available these days so no reason to cut corners with cat kibble or tinned meat imo. 1 Quote Link to post
