They do improve as they got older so dont loose hope LOL. But when out few weeks ago my bed/whip caught a rabbit n before he cud bring it back to me the other nutter came took it then ate it whole!! Shawry486 0
If you can't tire it out walking the dog have you thought of a treadmill?? 20 mins at a good pace plus its daily walk should settle it down. Quote Link to post
derbylad1 293
I know a lot of the lads/lasses (including) have said get him out more. But also be aware that too much exercise can do a shit load of damage to a 7 month olds limbs (if the dog was born in October). This damage can last forever with the dog, such as bone and ligament that can be over strained. Stay away from impact exercise, this includes jumping and definitely the treadmill....in my opinion its a bad idea. Especially if she a large dog, as they take a lot longer to develop physically and mentally. Its a question of balance and doing the "right" exercise. Quote Link to post

rob190364 2,594
try and find someone nearby with a young dog, meet them and let them play and chase each other round for a bit...if it'll fetch get it swimming until it's old enough to do some decent running. Puppies are hyper and a bit destructive, mine chewed through wires on baby monitor, laptop, electric radiator, ripped a role of selotape into a million pieces and ripped my mrs' expensive leather boots to shreds...oh how she laughed  Quote Link to post

neems 2,406
tire it out more. I read a while ago something like 98% of psychological problems in dogs can be solved by walking them more. good time of year if you've got a nearby field and a neighbor/friend with a fat lab to chase it around. Fat-Ferret 857
Your post sounds familiar.... The little bitch in my avatar was for the first 2 years of her life...A nightmare Many many times I said that day was her last with me, after she wrecked washing lines, stole clothes, killed neighbours cats and ate her way through hundreds of pounds worth of wood in fences, picnic tables and my missus precious garden type stuff Early ferreting was a nightmare, and we usually made it to ten o'clock before she went over a hill somewhere and got home before me But I could never bring myself to part with her...And I am glad I didnt, because when she finally settled down, we became Good partners As odd as it is for me to say it...She is by far the most obedient bitch I own, and the best ferreter of the lot. chook1 184
By walking the pup more you will just create further problems as you will get to a stage where even walking is not enough, the pup needs mental stimulation not just chewing a bone, you should find mental stimulation will tire the pup out much quicker and for longer.
