B.P.R 2,798
It's not illegal at all - my local council office flies the cross of St. George on April 23rd, for instance. The problem is, as you hinted, that too many people now think the flag belongs to EDL, BNP or "football" hooligans. Only by flying our flag proudly, can we claim it back from these groups, so ask your local councils and so on if they'll be flying the flag - it's next Tuesday ! Fly one yourself, wear a lapel badge - show your pride in your own country. If you don't how can you expect others to ? Thing is, we are in England, so they should fly the English flag EVERY day, not just 23rd April. am british and have family serving under the union flag that is the flag of the united kingdom st georges day is englands day I wear a union jack on my arm every day, and a saltire with a lion rampant on the other

mushroom 13,193
Had a Welsh flag flying for a while but all the weather ruined it. If I'm not mistaken its illegal in England to fly the English flag as its deenmed racist, perhaps our English members could shed more light on it. When I lived in Blackpool (during 2006 WC) I was driving the van round with the St George cross on one side and the UJ on the other got pulled up about it and told to take the St George down as it "could" be deemed racist told them to make me through legal channels and went and bought 2 more St Georges from the garage never heard anything about it again but the council did make the taxi drivers remove theirs. We used to go to Noel Street swimming pool to have a bath (they had private cubicles with baths in them before anybody starts !). They're pulling Beechdale down very soon, make way for more developments at Harvey Hadden - me mam lives round there. I remember the tower blocks on Hyson Green (grandad lived at back of Shippo's brewery) - Asda there now i think, haven't been down there for donkey's years. i used to go shopping with nan on Saturdays.Hyson Green was full of thriving grocers, fishmongers, hardware shops all that sort of stuff. Happy days ! None of this has owt to do with flags, but much more enjoyable ! Edited April 15, 2013 by Blackbriar

RubyTex 1,957
It would be nice to see a flag on every house but people don't give a shit anymore. I put one up in the window on St George's Day. The majority of English people celebrate St Patrick's Day so it'll be interesting to see how many celebrate St George's. I bet not as many, the bunch of silly c**ts.
