Stocka 1
As you all know I brought a s400 the other day and at the moment I'm using a mates divers bottle to refill it when needed. I want to get my own eventually but don't no weather to get the bottle or a pump? I take it the bottle is better but what's the difference surly they do the same job one just takes longer? Also can any gun shop refill the bottle when empty? Sorry for all the questions it is my first gun lol Cheers Adam Quote Link to post
iana 25
Get yourself a 300bar 3ltr cylinder you will get a good few fills from that. I get 7/8 for my R10 FAC at 220 bar so you will get a few more for your s400. Your local dive centre would fill it up but just make sure their compressor fills 300bar cylinders. Some don't!!! 1 Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
A pump has a few problems, but as long as you do not try filling in the middle of a working sauna or during a downpour(or in mist or fog) you should be OK, just takes a little effort (been there, done that). A pump is much lighter to carry in the field than a divers tank. If you are buying a divers tank you want 232 bar as a minimum, 300 bar as an ideal and 400 bar is just plain showing off as there are not that many places that can fill those bottles! The bigger the bottle the less it costs in refills during the course of a year but the more it will cost you in trusses for your hernia. A 12 litre bottle is not something you want to take on a 10 mile hike, trust me! I have a 3 litre that I take with me if I am out in the field setting up then hunting or for days on the target range, or for when my 12 litre is being refilled. Mostly I don't need to take a bottle with me though. I also have a 12 litre at home that does the bulk of the filling, Quote Link to post

pie-eater 377
I use a hill pump to fill my scorpion only takes a few minutes to top up. The pump I use has a filter which supposedly takes 90% of the moisture out of the air. Quote Link to post

goz1960 52
Go the bottle way if you go with a pump you will regret it in the long term. Quote Link to post

Tommy_uppy 2
Banbury gunsmiths refill but they charge £10 and have to send it off site. takes about a week to refill. I didn't know Otmoors did refills. I've been driving to Oxford dive shop. They are very friendly and cheap. if a bit curious about the sport. Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
Pump!! Takes max 5 mins, never runs out of test, never runs out of air, is really not hard to do, no storage issues, east to throw in the car. at best, you get a mild workout pumping to 200 bar from 50 on a buddy bottle, but on an S400 you'll only need half the effort! 1 Quote Link to post
Andy_c 210
Suppose it depend how far you are from a dive centre to get it topped up you might as well get a 12ltr if you get a bottle Quote Link to post
