Bsa Ultra Or Aa Tx200 Hc In .177(Which One)

Recommended Posts

hy guys,as the title says which one,i had set my sights on a bsa ultra SS in tactical as i would also need a pump and funds are limited. But i also quiet fancy an AA tx200 hc and that could be in walnut, each has its pro's and cons and which ever i choose now i would probably buy the other later,so is the tx as near as accurate as a pcp,i have seen some good vids on the tube, the ultra as demonstrated by Si pittaway would be the obivous choice however i do like the idea of just a rifle and a tin of pellets, which ever rifle i get it will be for target shooting only,no hunting as yet,Second hand ultras seem rare in .177 cal and to be fare most quality second hand stuff seems to hold there value very well,

so can the tx can be shot to accuracy levels near a pcp out of the box?

I shot my mate's Daystate huntsman classic last year and found it devastatingly easy to group inside a 1 inch at 30m (first go on a rifle in years)

where as a springer could keep me interested far longer

can some one help please

If you are not hunting then the TX is all the rifle you will ever need! You won't be worried about fast follow up shots, it will more than cope with target shooting too!

The thing with the Ultra is the size of the air reservoir on them, you will not have enough air for a day at the range, the TX will never run out....

Hi sparky the tx200 is about the best springer out of the box you can buy highly accurate and needs no tuning what so ever pcp,s are mutch quieter than springers but need filled up springers all you need is gun ,pellets ,bag and go just look at pianoman,s shooting he can out shoot eny one that has a pcp with eny of his springer,s atvbmac

Thanks guys, refilling the ultra wouldnt be a problem with a pump cause of the small air cyclinder

i suppose it was more a question of the AA accuracy out of the box,its easy for some one to post a vid on the tube and say its a stock non tuned rifle,

so i can pretty much put the accuracy dilemma to bed then

Only other thing issue know is weight as my missis and 14 year old also like to shoot, this is where the ultra really scores

many thanks for for help guys

For what you have described as your needs mate I would defo go for the TX200 over the Ultra.

If you do your bit and gain plenty of practice with it you will be able to match the Ultra after time and practice as Pianoman can with his springers.

Look at this group that i shot today witnessed by at least 5 shooters from Glevum airgun club with my new springer.

Granted not a TX200 but the Tx will do the same thing if you practice hard enough and use the marksmanship principles.

This was shot with my new .177 Sandwell Field Sports tuned HW98 at 27 yards with AA Field pellets.

Believe it or believe it not, this was not the best group i shot today with it. I actually shot one at 31 yards (4 shot group) with 4 pellets making a hole the size of a .22 caliber pellet (also witnessed).

thats impressive, must be satisfying to put pellet on pellet with a springer,i think i will end up with both rifles in time,my lad's an army cadet affiliated to the mercian regiment,he shoots scorpian cadets on camp at chilwell, thats why after seeing your verminhunters tv we settled on an ultra something that would help him, thanks for your input also

Very nice shooting there Skot with a OTB HW  .

I'm just uploading 2 parts of my day yesterday at SFS on VHTV.

Will be a while though, probably ready for viewing tomorrow now  .

I think a lot of people will find the 2 episodes interesting as I have actually got Tony Wall's own and real opinions of different things air gun related, and not what people seem to post as his views and opinions  .

Can't agree enough with others about the tx being your first gun you should buy. I think its important for everyone starting off with air rifles to start with a springer as it will reach you to shoot properly and you'll soon learn technique that will carry you forward to being an excellent shot with both spring piston and pcp air rifles!

Then when you shoot your pcp you'll be amazed at how easy they are.
