Craig Fosse 286
Hi guys Carrying on from my previous post about phesant shooting, I have found that the little blighters keep seeing my rifle before me. I also seem to have this problem with pigeons. It's alright wondering round with everything covered, but what about that nice shiny rifle? I wanted something to go with my jack pyke guillie suit I have just got, to try and negate me carrying around all my hide stuff all the time. I took an old pair of mtp trousers I had from the forces and went about cutting them and came up with this, I,ve cut holes to allow the bipod on and the bipod actually acts to pull all the cut up trouser tight so it doesn't get in the way of the scope. The flap is easily lifted for access to the magazine and bolt. And the trousers tie is tied around to stop it going over the silencer. I'm hoping to just lie up and hit some pheasants tomorrow. I have some left over jack pyke leafs that I got a while ago on ebay and I'm planning on sewing these on to bring it up to spec with the loose leaf suit I have. If anyone wants any trousers to do the same I have a few spare. The flaps also move out the way to allow you to get to the zoom and AO easily and silently. Gonna try it out tomorrow Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
Nice one Craig, I believe you can buy a Jack Pyke 'gun sock' for a few quid http://jackpykeshop.co.uk/jack-pyke-gun-sock.html#product235 that has the same effect only yours is completely free! Look forward to hearing if it works! Edited April 14, 2013 by Elliott Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
You got it, I have my slip over shrouds I made from some cheap scrim for just such use! Quote Link to post
Craig Fosse 286
I have seen those jack pyke ones before but not being able to see them before I buy them is a big thing, for example on my stock I have a crosshairs imprint of my POi at different ranges but not sure if the jack pyke one would gain access to that so my one on the stock I can just peel it back and have a look., hopefully it will work makes me more confident about not being seen this time round. If you've got a Hawke scope do what the rest of us do; download your calibrated reticule using Chairgun and stick it to the inside of your scope cap Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Or using Chairgun work out the approximate magnification to give 5 metre separation on the marked dots (usually around x10 mag), check it over and leave it at that magnification! That is what I do with mine! Quote Link to post
Craig Fosse 286
It's a Nikki sterling and I don't have a chrono unfortunately which means I can't work it out so I did it myself at different ranges, plus I don't have scope caps lol Quote Link to post

moxy 617
Although I share your enthusiasm for shooting. My question is why??? Your shooting rabbits, pigeons, rats, pheasants etc. NOT the Taliban. What benefits do you think gun wrapping is achieving? 1 Quote Link to post

The same way exactly as you cam yourself up not be seen, applies just the same for equipment that you use. atb phil Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,551
Looks great Craig, With the camo effort you`ve put in you should surely reap the rewards. One thing i noticed even camo`d up was i got "far less" fly away if the gun was always in position ready or "shoulder" my gun just as the pigeon was landing. Hats off to the effort mate atb Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
would you rather go shooting in camo or tin-foil?? the more you can do to hide yourself and your gun the better in my eyes.. 1 Quote Link to post

Your shooting rabbits, pigeons, rats, pheasants etc. NOT the Taliban. What benefits do you think gun wrapping is achieving? So why would you want to hide from the Taliban and not your quarry you are trying to stealthily shoot without being seen or heard? Sounds like you have a chip on you shoulder mate, put a guy down why don't you! Well I think it's a good idea, and will work better for my hunting, and THAT is all that matters, if you don't, don't comment..simples Craig Quote Link to post
Craig Fosse 286
On the other hand, cheers for the positives guys, just at work at the moment but its a clear sky in jersey and the landowner had just said yesturday there was phesants all in the jersey royals so I'm off to do some damage .... moxy 617
Hang on a minuet here Craig! Where was the negativity in my questions? Gun cammo is not my thing, never felt the need for it or ever had an instance where I have thought, hmmn If I had just put a sock over my scope...........? Anyway. I was going to add something a little constructive but as it seems my comments are not welcome I may go and find some salt and vinegar for this chip I have. Atb Quote Link to post
